Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Vav.
41 May Your (A)lovingkindnesses also come to me, O Lord,
Your salvation (B)according to Your [a]word;
42 So I will have an (C)answer for him who (D)reproaches me,
For I trust in Your word.
43 And do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,
For I [b](E)wait for Your ordinances.
44 So I will (F)keep Your law continually,
Forever and ever.
45 And I will (G)walk [c]at liberty,
For I (H)seek Your precepts.
46 I will also speak of Your testimonies (I)before kings
And shall not be ashamed.
47 I shall [d](J)delight in Your commandments,
Which I (K)love.
48 And I shall lift up my hands to Your commandments,
Which I (L)love;
And I will (M)meditate on Your statutes.
16 “This day the Lord your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances. You shall therefore be careful to do them (A)with all your heart and with all your soul. 17 (B)You have today declared the Lord to be your God, and [a]that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice. 18 The Lord has today declared you to be (C)His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and [b]that you should keep all His commandments; 19 and [c]that He will (D)set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, fame, and honor; and that you shall be (E)a consecrated people to the Lord your God, as He has spoken.”
The Curses of Mount Ebal
27 Then Moses and the elders of Israel charged the people, saying, “Keep all the commandments which I command you today. 2 (F)So it shall be on the day when you cross the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God gives you, that you shall set up for yourself large stones and coat them with lime 3 and write on them all the words of this law, when you cross over, so that you may enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, (G)a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, [d]promised you. 4 So it shall be when you cross the Jordan, you shall set up (H)on Mount Ebal, these stones, [e]as I am commanding you today, and you shall coat them with lime. 5 Moreover, you shall build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; you (I)shall not [f]wield an iron tool on them. 6 You shall build the altar of the Lord your God of [g]uncut stones, and you shall offer on it burnt offerings to the Lord your God; 7 and you shall sacrifice peace offerings and eat there, and (J)rejoice before the Lord your God.
The Rich Young Ruler
16 (A)And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain (B)eternal life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but (C)if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “(D)You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; 19 (E)Honor your father and mother; and (F)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man *said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be [a]complete, go and (G)sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have (H)treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22 But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.
