Psalm 8

How Majestic Is Your Name

For the choir director. According to the Gittith. A Psalm of David.

O Yahweh, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who [a](A)displays Your splendor above the heavens!
(B)From the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have established [b](C)strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make (D)the enemy and the revengeful cease.

When I (E)see (F)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The (G)moon and the stars, which You have established;
(H)What is man that You remember him,
And the son of man that You care for him?
Yet You have made him a (I)little lower than the [c]angels,
And (J)You crown him with (K)glory and majesty!
You make him to (L)rule over the works of Your hands;
You have (M)put all things under his feet,
All sheep and oxen,
And also the animals of the field,
The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

(N)O Yahweh, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

Exodus 1:1-7

Israel Multiplies in Egypt

Now these are the (A)names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob; they came each one [a]with his household: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. And all the [b]persons who came from the loins of Jacob were (B)seventy [c]in number, but Joseph was already in Egypt. (C)Then Joseph died, and all his brothers and all that generation. But the sons of Israel (D)were fruitful and [d]increased and multiplied and became exceedingly [e]mighty, so that the land was filled with them.

Romans 2:1-11

God’s Righteous Judgment

Therefore you are (A)without excuse, (B)O man, everyone who passes judgment, for in that which (C)you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. And we know that the judgment of God [a]rightly falls upon those who practice such things. But do you presume this, (D)O man—who passes judgment on those who practice such things and does the same—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you think lightly of (E)the riches of His (F)kindness and (G)forbearance and (H)patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But [b]because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart (I)you are storing up wrath for yourself (J)in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, (K)who will repay to each according to his works: to those who by (L)perseverance in doing good seek for (M)glory and honor and (N)immortality, (O)eternal life; but to those who are (P)selfishly ambitious and (Q)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and anger. There will be (R)affliction and turmoil [c]for every soul of man who works out evil, of the Jew (S)first and also of the Greek, 10 but (T)glory and honor and peace to everyone who works good, to the Jew (U)first and also to the Greek. 11 For (V)there is no partiality with God.
