Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
I Love Yahweh
116 (A)I love Yahweh, because He (B)hears
My voice and my supplications.
2 Because He has (C)inclined His ear to me,
So I shall call upon Him in all my days.
3 The (D)cords of death encompassed me
And the [a]distresses of Sheol found me;
I found distress and sorrow.
4 Then (E)I called upon the name of Yahweh:
“O Yahweh, I beseech You, [b](F)provide my soul escape!”
12 What shall I (A)give to Yahweh in return
For all His (B)bountiful dealings [a]with me?
13 I shall lift up the (C)cup of [b]salvation
And (D)call upon the name of Yahweh.
14 I shall (E)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be (F)in the presence of all His people.
15 (G)Precious in the sight of Yahweh
Is the death of His holy ones.
16 O Yahweh, [c]surely I am (H)Your slave,
I am Your slave, the (I)son of Your maidservant,
You have (J)loosed my bonds.
17 To You I shall offer (K)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And (L)call upon the name of Yahweh.
18 I shall (M)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (N)courts of the house of Yahweh,
In the midst of you, O (O)Jerusalem.
[d]Praise Yah!
Yahweh Will Swallow Up Death
25 O Yahweh, You are (A)my God;
I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name;
For You have (B)worked wonders,
(C)Counsels formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
2 For You have made a city into a (D)heap,
A (E)fortified town into a ruin;
A (F)palace of strangers is a city no more,
It will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore a strong people will (G)glorify You;
(H)Towns of ruthless nations will fear You.
4 For You have been a (I)strong defense for the poor,
A strong defense for the needy in his distress,
A (J)refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;
For the breath of the (K)ruthless
Is like a rain storm against a wall.
5 Like heat in a dry land, You subdue the (L)rumbling of strangers;
Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is [a]silenced.
8 And (A)though you have not seen Him, you (B)love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and [a]full of glory, 9 receiving as (C)the outcome of your faith the salvation of [b]your souls.
10 (D)Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who (E)prophesied of the (F)grace that would come to you, made careful searches and inquiries, 11 [c]inquiring to know what time or what kind of time (G)the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He was (H)predicting the sufferings of Christ and the glories [d]to follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been declared to you through those who (I)proclaimed the gospel to you by (J)the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which (K)angels long to [e]look.
