Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)

⁹ Show me loving-kindness, O Lord, for I am in trouble. My eyes, my soul and my body are becoming weak from being sad. ¹⁰ For my life gets weaker with sorrow, and my years with crying inside myself. My strength has left me because of my sin. And my bones waste away. ¹¹ Because of all those who hate me, I have become a shame to my neighbors. Even my friends do not want to be with me. Those who see me on the street run from me. ¹² I am forgotten like a dead man and they do not think about me. I am like a broken pot. ¹³ For I have heard many say things to hurt me. Fear is on every side. They planned together against me. They thought of ways to take away my life.

¹⁴ But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord. I say, “You are my God.” ¹⁵ My times are in Your hands. Free me from the hands of those who hate me, and from those who try to hurt me. ¹⁶ Make Your face shine upon Your servant. Save me in Your loving-kindness.

⁵⁵ I called on Your name, O Lord, out of the deep hole. ⁵⁶ You have heard my voice. Do not close Your ears to my cry for help. ⁵⁷ You came near when I called You, and You said, “Do not be afraid!” ⁵⁸ You have helped me in my cause, O Lord. You have saved my life. ⁵⁹ O Lord, You have seen the wrong done to me. Judge in my favor. ⁶⁰ You have seen how much they hate me and plan against me. ⁶¹ O Lord, You have heard how they put me to shame and how they work against me. ⁶² The lips and thoughts of those who hurt me are against me all day long. ⁶³ Watch their sitting down and standing up. I am their song as they make fun of me. ⁶⁴ O Lord, You will punish them for what they have done. ⁶⁵ You will give them hard hearts, and curse them. ⁶⁶ Go after them in anger and destroy them from under Your heavens, O Lord.

Jesus Tells of His Death the Third Time ^(A)

³² They were on their way to Jerusalem. Jesus walked in front of them. Those who followed were surprised and afraid. Then Jesus took the twelve followers by themselves. He told them what would happen to Him. ³³ He said, “Listen, we are going to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the religious leaders of the Jews and to the teachers of the Law. They will say that He must be put to death. They will hand Him over to the people who are not Jews. ³⁴ They will make fun of Him and will beat Him. They will spit on Him and will kill Him. But three days later He will be raised from the dead.”
