Psalm 128

Blessed Is Everyone Who Fears Yahweh

A Song of Ascents.

128 (A)How blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh,
Who (B)walks in His ways.
When you shall (C)eat of the [a](D)fruit of the labor of your hands,
How blessed will you be and (E)how well will it be for you.
Your wife shall be like a (F)fruitful vine
In the innermost parts of your house,
Your children like (G)olive plants
All around your table.
Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears Yahweh.

(H)May Yahweh bless you (I)from Zion,
That you may see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
Indeed, may you see your (J)children’s children.
(K)Peace be upon Israel!

Numbers 21:4-9

Then they set out from Mount Hor by the way to the [a]Red Sea, to (A)go around the land of Edom; and the [b]people became impatient on the way. And the people spoke against God and against Moses, “(B)Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no [c]food and no water, and [d](C)we loathe this miserable food.”

The Bronze Serpent

(D)So Yahweh sent fiery serpents among the people, and (E)they bit the people so that (F)many people of Israel died. (G)Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you; (H)pray to Yahweh, that He may remove the serpents from us.” And Moses prayed for the people. Then Yahweh said to Moses, “[e]Make a (I)fiery serpent and set it on a standard; and it will be that everyone who is bitten and looks at it, will live.” And Moses made a (J)bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it happened, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived.

Hebrews 3:1-6

Jesus Greater than Moses

Therefore, (A)holy brothers, partakers of a (B)heavenly calling, consider (C)the Apostle and (D)High Priest of our (E)confession—Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as (F)Moses also was in all His house. (G)For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, in so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. Now (H)Moses was faithful in all His house as (I)a servant, (J)for a testimony of those things (K)which were to be spoken later, but Christ was faithful as (L)a Son over His house—(M)whose house we are, (N)if we hold fast our (O)confidence and the boast of our (P)hope.
