Psalm 146

Psalm 146[a]

146 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, O my soul.
I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
Do not trust in princes,
or in human beings, who cannot deliver.[b]
Their life’s breath departs, they return to the ground.
On that day their plans die.[c]
How blessed is the one whose helper is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
the one who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who remains forever faithful,[d]
vindicates the oppressed,[e]
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord releases the imprisoned.
The Lord gives sight to the blind.
The Lord lifts up all who are bent over.[f]
The Lord loves the godly.
The Lord protects the resident foreigner.
He lifts up the fatherless and the widow,[g]
but he opposes the wicked.[h]
10 The Lord rules forever,
your God, O Zion, throughout the generations to come.[i]
Praise the Lord!

Exodus 29:1-9

The Consecration of Aaron and His Sons

29 [a] “Now this is what[b] you are to do for them to consecrate them so that they may minister as my priests. Take a young[c] bull and two rams without blemish;[d] and[e] bread made without yeast, and perforated cakes without yeast mixed with oil, and wafers without yeast spread[f] with oil—you are to make them using[g] fine wheat flour. You are to put them in one basket and present[h] them in the basket, along with[i] the bull and the two rams.

“You are to present[j] Aaron and his sons at the entrance of the tent of meeting. You are to wash[k] them with water and take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic,[l] the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastpiece; you are to fasten the ephod on him by using the skillfully woven waistband.[m] You are to put the turban on his head and put the holy diadem[n] on the turban. You are to take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.[o] You are to present his sons and clothe them with tunics and wrap the sashes around Aaron and his sons[p] and put headbands on them, and so the ministry of priesthood will belong to them by a perpetual ordinance. Thus you are to consecrate[q] Aaron and his sons.

Acts 22:6-21

As[a] I was en route and near Damascus,[b] about noon a very bright[c] light from heaven[d] suddenly flashed[e] around me. Then I[f] fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’ Those who were with me saw the light, but did not understand[g] the voice of the one who was speaking to me. 10 So I asked,[h] ‘What should I do, Lord?’ The Lord said to me, ‘Get up[i] and go to Damascus; there you will be told about everything[j] that you have been designated[k] to do.’ 11 Since I could not see because of[l] the brilliance[m] of that light, I came to Damascus led by the hand of[n] those who were with me. 12 A man named Ananias,[o] a devout man according to the law,[p] well spoken of by all the Jews who live there,[q] 13 came[r] to me and stood beside me[s] and said to me, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight!’[t] And at that very moment[u] I looked up and saw him.[v] 14 Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors[w] has already chosen[x] you to know his will, to see[y] the Righteous One,[z] and to hear a command[aa] from his mouth, 15 because you will be his witness[ab] to all people[ac] of what you have seen and heard. 16 And now what are you waiting for?[ad] Get up,[ae] be baptized, and have your sins washed away,[af] calling on his name.’[ag] 17 When[ah] I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance[ai] 18 and saw the Lord[aj] saying to me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’ 19 I replied,[ak] ‘Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat those in the various synagogues[al] who believed in you. 20 And when the blood of your witness[am] Stephen was shed,[an] I myself was standing nearby, approving,[ao] and guarding the cloaks[ap] of those who were killing him.’[aq] 21 Then[ar] he said to me, ‘Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”
