Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
2 ¶ And Hannah prayed and said, My heart rejoices in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies because I have rejoiced in thy saving health.
2 There is none holy as the LORD, for there is none beside thee; neither is there any strong One like our God.
3 Do not multiply thyself speaking great and lofty things; let arrogant words cease from your mouth, for the LORD is the all-knowing God, and the magnificent works are his.
4 The bows of the mighty men have been broken, and the weak are girded with strength.
5 Those that were full have hired themselves out for bread, and those that were hungry ceased so that the barren has given birth to seven, and she that has many children is waxed feeble.
6 The LORD kills, and he gives life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.
7 The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and lifts up.
8 He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill to set them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he has set the world upon them.
9 He keeps the feet of his saints, and the wicked perish in darkness, for no man shall prevail by their own strength.
10 LORD, thine adversaries shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven he shall thunder upon them. The LORD shall judge the ends of the earth, and he shall give strength unto his king and exalt the horn of his anointed. {Heb. Messiah}
21 And the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer unto the LORD the accustomed sacrifice and his vow.
22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child is weaned, and then I will bring him that he may be presented before the LORD and abide there for ever.
23 And Elkanah, her husband, said unto her, Do what seems good unto thee; tarry until thou hast weaned him; only let the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
24 And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks and one ephah of flour and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh; and the child was young.
25 And they slew a bullock and brought the child to Eli.
26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul lives, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.
27 For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.
28 Therefore, I also have given him back to the LORD; as long as he lives he shall belong to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, charity, tolerance, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, unto which thou art also called, having made a good profession before many witnesses.
13 ¶ I give thee charge in the sight of God, who gives life to all things and before Christ Jesus, who testified before Pontius Pilate a good profession;
14 that thou keep the commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 who in his time shall show the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 the only one who has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17 Charge those that are rich in this world, that they not be highminded, not placing their hope in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;
18 but charge them to do good, that they be rich in good works, liberal to distribute, willing to communicate,
19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the future, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, turn away from profane voices and vain things and arguments in the vain name of science,
21 which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
