Psalm 69:1-3

Psalm 69

For the choir director; according to shoshannim; by David.

Save me, O Elohim!
The water is already up to my neck!
I am sinking in deep mud.
There is nothing to stand on.
    I am in deep water.
A flood is sweeping me away.
I am exhausted from crying for help.
    My throat is hoarse.
My eyes are strained from looking for my Elohim.

Psalm 69:13-16

13 May my prayer come to you at an acceptable time, O Yahweh.
O Elohim, out of the greatness of your mercy,
answer me with the truth of your salvation.
14 Rescue me from the mud.
Do not let me sink into it.
I want to be rescued from those who hate me
    and from the deep water.
15 Do not let floodwaters sweep me away.
Do not let the ocean swallow me up,
or the pit close its mouth over me.
16 Answer me, O Yahweh, because your mercy is good.
Out of your unlimited compassion, turn to me.

Psalm 69:30-36

30 I want to praise the name of Elohim with a song.
I want to praise its greatness with a song of thanksgiving.
31 This will please Yahweh more than sacrificing an ox
or a bull with horns and hoofs.
32 Oppressed people will see this and rejoice.
May the hearts of those who look to Elohim for help be refreshed.

33 Yahweh listens to needy people.
He does not despise his own who are in prison.
34 Let heaven and earth, the seas, and everything that moves in them, praise him.
35 When Elohim saves Zion, he will rebuild the cities of Judah.
His servants will live there and take possession of it.
36 The descendants of his servants will inherit it.
Those who love him will live there.

Genesis 4:17-5:5

Cain’s Ten Descendants—Cain to Lamech

17 Cain made love to his wife. She became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was building a city, and he named it Enoch after his son. 18 To Enoch was born Irad. Irad was the father of Mehujael. Mehujael was the father of Methushael. And Methushael was the father of Lamech.

19 Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah. 20 Adah gave birth to Jabal. He was the first person to live in tents and have livestock. 21 His brother’s name was Jubal. He was the first person to play the harp and the flute. 22 Zillah also had a son, Tubalcain, who made bronze and iron tools. Tubalcain’s sister was Naamah.

23 Lamech said to his wives,

“Adah and Zillah, listen to me!
Wives of Lamech, hear what I say!
I killed a man for bruising me,
a young man for wounding me.
24 If Cain is avenged 7 times,
    then Lamech, 77 times.”

Adam’s Godly Descendants—Adam to Enosh

25 Adam made love to his wife again. She gave birth to a son and named him Seth, because she said, “Elohim has given[a] me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”

26 A son was also born to Seth, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to worship Yahweh.

Adam’s Ten Descendants—Adam to Noah(A)

This is the written account of Adam and his descendants.

When Elohim created humans,
he made them in the likeness of Elohim.
He created them male and female.
He blessed them and called them humans
when he created them.

When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, in his own image. He named him Seth. After Adam became the father of Seth, he lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Adam lived a total of 930 years; then he died.

Romans 3:9-22

What, then, is the situation? Do we have any advantage? Not at all. We have already accused everyone (both Jews and Greeks) of being under the power of sin, 10 as Scripture says,

“Not one person has God’s approval.
11 No one understands.
    No one searches for God.
12 Everyone has turned away.
Together they have become rotten to the core.
        No one does anything good,
            not even one person.
13 Their throats are open graves.
    Their tongues practice deception.
Their lips hide the venom of poisonous snakes.
14 Their mouths are full of curses and bitter resentment.
15 They run quickly to murder people.
16 There is ruin and suffering wherever they go.
17 They have not learned to live in peace.
18 They are not terrified of God.”

19 We know that whatever the Scriptures say applies to everyone under their influence, and no one can say a thing. The whole world is brought under the judgment of God. 20 Not one person can have God’s approval by any effort to follow the laws in the Scriptures. These laws show what sin is.

God Gives Us His Approval as a Gift

21 Now, the way to receive God’s approval has been made plain in a way other than the laws in the Scriptures. Moses’ Teachings and the Prophets tell us this. 22 Everyone who believes has God’s approval through faith in Yeshua Christ.

There is no difference between people.
