Psalm 69:1-3

An Urgent Plea for Help in Trouble

To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Lilies.” A Psalm of David.

69 Save me, O God!
For (A)the waters have come up to my [b]neck.
(B)I sink in deep mire,
Where there is no standing;
I have come into deep waters,
Where the floods overflow me.
(C)I am weary with my crying;
My throat is dry;
(D)My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Psalm 69:13-16

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You,
O Lord, in the acceptable time;
O God, in the multitude of Your mercy,
Hear me in the truth of Your salvation.
14 Deliver me out of the mire,
And let me not sink;
Let me be delivered from those who hate me,
And out of the deep waters.
15 Let not the floodwater overflow me,
Nor let the deep swallow me up;
And let not the pit shut its mouth on me.

16 Hear me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good;
Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.

Psalm 69:30-36

30 (A)I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
31 (B)This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull,
Which has horns and hooves.
32 (C)The humble shall see this and be glad;
And you who seek God, (D)your hearts shall live.
33 For the Lord hears the poor,
And does not despise (E)His prisoners.

34 (F)Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas (G)and everything that moves in them.
35 (H)For God will save Zion
And build the cities of Judah,
That they may dwell there and possess it.
36 Also, (I)the [a]descendants of His servants shall inherit it,
And those who love His name shall dwell in it.

Genesis 4:17-5:5

17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, (A)and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch. 18 To Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech.

19 Then Lamech took for himself (B)two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah. 20 And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. 21 His brother’s name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and [a]flute. 22 And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.

23 Then Lamech said to his wives:

“Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;
Wives of Lamech, listen to my speech!
For I have [b]killed a man for wounding me,
Even a young man [c]for hurting me.
24 (C)If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold,
Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”

A New Son

25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and (D)named him [d]Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.” 26 And as for Seth, (E)to him also a son was born; and he named him [e]Enosh. Then men began (F)to call on the name of the Lord.

The Family of Adam(G)

This is the book of the (H)genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in (I)the likeness of God. He created them (J)male and female, and (K)blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son (L)in his own likeness, after his image, and (M)named him Seth. After he begot Seth, (N)the days of Adam were eight hundred years; (O)and he had sons and daughters. So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; (P)and he died.

Romans 3:9-22

All Have Sinned(A)

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that (B)they are all under sin.

10 As it is written:

(C)“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
13 “Their(D) throat is an open [a]tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
(E)“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
14 “Whose(F) mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their(G) feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “There(H) is no fear of God before their eyes.”

19 Now we know that whatever (I)the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that (J)every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become [b]guilty before God. 20 Therefore (K)by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

God’s Righteousness Through Faith

21 But now (L)the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, (M)being witnessed by the Law (N)and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all [c]and on all who believe. For (O)there is no difference;
