Psalm 69:1-3

Save Me, O God

For the choir director. According to [a]Shoshannim. Of David.

69 Save me, O God,
For the (A)waters have [b]threatened my life.
I have sunk in deep (B)clay, and there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters, and a [c](C)flood overflows me.
I am (D)weary with my calling out; my throat is parched;
My (E)eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Psalm 69:13-16

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Yahweh, (A)at an acceptable time;
O God, in the (B)abundance of Your lovingkindness,
Answer me with the truth of Your salvation.
14 Deliver me from the (C)mire and do not let me sink;
May I be (D)delivered from [a]my foes and from the [b](E)deep waters.
15 May the [c](F)flood of water not overflow me
Nor the deep swallow me up,
Nor the (G)pit shut its mouth on me.

16 Answer me, O Yahweh, for (H)Your lovingkindness is good;
(I)According to the abundance of Your compassion, (J)turn to me,

Psalm 69:30-36

30 I will (A)praise the name of God with song
And (B)magnify Him with (C)thanksgiving.
31 And this will (D)please Yahweh better than an ox
Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.
32 The (E)humble [a]see it and are glad;
You who seek God, (F)let your heart [b]revive.
33 For (G)Yahweh hears the needy
And (H)does not despise His who are prisoners.

34 Let (I)heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and (J)everything that moves in them.
35 For God will (K)save Zion and (L)build the cities of Judah,
That they may dwell there and (M)possess it.
36 The (N)seed of His slaves will inherit it,
And those who love His name (O)will dwell in it.

Genesis 4:1-16

Cain and Abel

Now the man [a]knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and [b]gave birth to [c]Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a [d]man with the help of Yahweh.” And again, she [e]gave birth to his brother Abel. (A)Abel was (B)a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a cultivator of the ground. So it happened [f]in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to Yahweh of the fruit of the ground. (C)Abel, on his part, also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And (D)Yahweh had regard for Abel and for his offering; but (E)for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So (F)Cain became very angry, and his countenance fell. Then Yahweh said to Cain, “(G)Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? (H)If you do well, [g]will not your countenance be lifted up? (I)And if you do not do well, sin is lying at the door; and its desire is for you, (J)but you must rule over it.” Then Cain [h]spoke to Abel his brother; and it happened when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and (K)killed him.

Then Yahweh said to Cain, “(L)Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And He said, “What have you done? (M)The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground. 11 And now, (N)cursed are you from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 (O)When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you; (P)you will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.” 13 And Cain said to Yahweh, “My punishment is too great to bear! 14 Behold, You have (Q)driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Your face I will be hidden, and (R)I will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and it will be that (S)whoever finds me will kill me.” 15 So Yahweh said to him, “Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him (T)sevenfold.” And Yahweh [i](U)appointed a sign for Cain, so that no one who found him would strike him.

16 Then Cain went out from the presence (V)of Yahweh and [j]settled in the land of [k]Nod, east of Eden.

Romans 2:1-11

God’s Righteous Judgment

Therefore you are (A)without excuse, (B)O man, everyone who passes judgment, for in that which (C)you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. And we know that the judgment of God [a]rightly falls upon those who practice such things. But do you presume this, (D)O man—who passes judgment on those who practice such things and does the same—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you think lightly of (E)the riches of His (F)kindness and (G)forbearance and (H)patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But [b]because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart (I)you are storing up wrath for yourself (J)in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, (K)who will repay to each according to his works: to those who by (L)perseverance in doing good seek for (M)glory and honor and (N)immortality, (O)eternal life; but to those who are (P)selfishly ambitious and (Q)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and anger. There will be (R)affliction and turmoil [c]for every soul of man who works out evil, of the Jew (S)first and also of the Greek, 10 but (T)glory and honor and peace to everyone who works good, to the Jew (U)first and also to the Greek. 11 For (V)there is no partiality with God.
