New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)
Version
Genesis 6:9-22

These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man and blameless in his generation;(A) Noah walked with God. 10 Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 But the earth was corrupt[a] in the view of God and full of lawlessness.(B) 12 When God saw how corrupt the earth had become, since all mortals had corrupted their ways on earth,(C) 13 God said to Noah: I see that the end of all mortals has come, for the earth is full of lawlessness because of them. So I am going to destroy them with the earth.(D)

Preparation for the Flood. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood,[b] equip the ark with various compartments, and cover it inside and out with pitch. 15 This is how you shall build it: the length of the ark will be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.[c] 16 Make an opening for daylight[d] and finish the ark a cubit above it. Put the ark’s entrance on its side; you will make it with bottom, second and third decks. 17 I, on my part, am about to bring the flood waters on the earth, to destroy all creatures under the sky in which there is the breath of life; everything on earth shall perish.(E) 18 I will establish my covenant with you. You shall go into the ark, you and your sons, your wife and your sons’ wives with you.(F) 19 Of all living creatures you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, one male and one female,[e] to keep them alive along with you. 20 Of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal, and of every kind of thing that crawls on the ground, two of each will come to you, that you may keep them alive. 21 Moreover, you are to provide yourself with all the food that is to be eaten, and store it away, that it may serve as provisions for you and for them. 22 Noah complied; he did just as God had commanded him.[f]

Genesis 7:24

24 And when the waters had swelled on the earth for one hundred and fifty days,

Genesis 8:14-19

14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

15 Then God said to Noah: 16 Go out of the ark, together with your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives. 17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you—all creatures, be they birds or animals or crawling things that crawl on the earth—and let them abound on the earth, and be fertile and multiply on it.(A) 18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives; 19 and all the animals, all the birds, and all the crawling creatures that crawl on the earth went out of the ark by families.

Psalm 46

Psalm 46[a]

God, the Protector of Zion

For the leader. A song of the Korahites. According to alamoth.[b]

I

God is our refuge and our strength,
    an ever-present help in distress.(A)
[c]Thus we do not fear, though earth be shaken
    and mountains quake to the depths of the sea,
Though its waters rage and foam
    and mountains totter at its surging.(B)
Selah

II

[d]Streams of the river gladden the city of God,
    the holy dwelling of the Most High.(C)
God is in its midst; it shall not be shaken;
    God will help it at break of day.(D)
Though nations rage and kingdoms totter,
    he utters his voice and the earth melts.(E)
[e]The Lord of hosts is with us;
    our stronghold is the God of Jacob.
Selah

III

Come and see the works of the Lord,
    who has done fearsome deeds on earth;(F)
10 Who stops wars to the ends of the earth,
    breaks the bow, splinters the spear,
    and burns the shields with fire;(G)
11 (H)“Be still and know that I am God!
    I am exalted among the nations,
    exalted on the earth.”
12 The Lord of hosts is with us;
    our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

Romans 1:16-17

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek.(A) 17 For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith;[a] as it is written, “The one who is righteous by faith will live.”(B)

Romans 3:22-28

22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction;(A) 23 all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God.(B) 24 They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus,(C) 25 whom God set forth as an expiation,[a] through faith, by his blood, to prove his righteousness because of the forgiveness of sins previously committed,(D) 26 through the forbearance of God—to prove his righteousness in the present time, that he might be righteous and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.

27 (E)What occasion is there then for boasting?[b] It is ruled out. On what principle, that of works? No, rather on the principle of faith.[c] 28 For we consider that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law.(F)

Romans 3:29-31

29 Does God belong to Jews alone? Does he not belong to Gentiles, too? Yes, also to Gentiles,(A) 30 for God is one and will justify the circumcised on the basis of faith and the uncircumcised through faith.(B) 31 Are we then annulling the law by this faith? Of course not!(C) On the contrary, we are supporting the law.[a]

Matthew 7:21-29

The True Disciple. 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven,[a] but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.(A) 22 Many will say to me on that day,(B) ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’(C) 23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you.[b] Depart from me, you evildoers.’(D)

The Two Foundations. 24 [c]“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.(E) 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.(F) But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. 26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”

28 [d]When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 [e](G)for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
