Psalm 46

46 God is our hope and strength; help in troubles, ready to be found.

Therefore, we will not fear, though the Earth be moved and though the mountains fall into the midst of the sea.

The waters thereof rage and are troubled; the mountains shake at the surges of the same. Selah.

Still, there is a River whose stream shall make glad the City of God, the Sanctuary of the Tabernacles of the Most High.

God is in the midst of it; therefore, it shall not be moved. God shall help it in the dawning.

When the nations raged and the kingdoms were moved, God thundered, and the Earth melted.

The LORD of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Come and behold the works of the LORD, what desolations He has made on the Earth.

He makes wars cease, to the ends of the world. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear and burns the chariots with fire.

10 “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen. I will be exalted on the Earth.”

11 The LORD of Hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. To him who excels: A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.

Genesis 2:4-25

These are the generations of the heavens and of the Earth - when they were created, on the day that the LORD God made the Earth and the heavens -

and every shrub of the field before it was in the earth; and every plant of the field, before it grew. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, nor was there a man to till the ground,

But a mist went up from the Earth; and watered all the Earth.

The LORD God also made the man from the dust of the ground and breathed in his face breath of life. And the man was a living soul.

And the LORD God planted a garden, eastward in Eden. And there He put the man whom He had made.

For out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden and the Tree of Knowledge (of good and of evil).

10 And out of Eden went a river to water the garden. And from there it was divided and became four heads.

11 The name of the first, Pishon. The same runs through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.

12 And the gold of that land is good. There is bdellium and the onyx stone.

13 And the name of the second river, Gihon. The same runs through the whole land of Cush.

14 And the name of the third river, Hiddekel. This goes toward the east side of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden, so that he might dress it and keep it.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You shall eat freely from every tree of the garden.

17 “But from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat. For on the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die.”

18 Also the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make a perfect mate for him.”

19 So the LORD God formed from the earth every wild animal, and every bird of the sky; and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. For whatever the man named the living creature, so was its name.

20 Therefore, the man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every wild animal. But Adam found no perfect mate for himself.

21 Therefore, the LORD God caused a heavy sleep to fall upon the man. And he slept. And he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place.

22 And with the rib which the LORD God had taken from the man, he made a woman. And he brought her to the man.

23 Then the man said, “This, now, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called ‘woman’, because she was taken out of the man.

24 “Therefore, man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cling to his wife. And they shall be one flesh.”

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife. And they were not ashamed.

Romans 9:6-13

Notwithstanding, it cannot be that the Word of God should take no effect. For not all are Israel who are of Israel.

Nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham. But: “In Isaac shall your seed be called.”

That is, those who are the children of the flesh are not the children of God. But the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

For this is a Word of Promise: “At this time I will come, and Sarah shall have a son”;

10 and not only her, but Rebecca also, when she had conceived by one, even by our Father, Isaac.

11 For before the children were born - and when they had done neither good nor evil (so that the purpose of God might remain according to election; not by works, but by Him Who calls) -

12 it was said to her: “The Elder shall serve the younger.”

13 As it is written: “I have loved Jacob and have hated Esau.”
