Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
מ (Mem)
97 O how I love your law!
All day long I meditate on it.
98 Your commandments[a] make me wiser than my enemies,
for I am always aware of them.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
for I meditate on your rules.
100 I am more discerning than those older than I,
for I observe your precepts.
101 I stay away[b] from every evil path,
so that I might keep your instructions.[c]
102 I do not turn aside from your regulations,
for you teach me.
103 Your words are sweeter
in my mouth than honey![d]
104 Your precepts give me discernment.
Therefore I hate all deceitful actions.[e]
18 “And say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves[a] for tomorrow, and you will eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing[b] of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat,[c] for life[d] was good for us in Egypt?” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat. 19 You will eat, not just one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, 20 but a whole month,[e] until it comes out your nostrils and makes you sick,[f] because you have despised[g] the Lord who is among you and have wept before him, saying, “Why[h] did we ever come out of Egypt?”’”
21 Moses said, “The people around me[i] are 600,000 on foot;[j] but you say, ‘I will give them meat,[k] that they may eat[l] for a whole month.’ 22 Would they have enough if the flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? If all the fish of the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?” 23 And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s hand shortened?[m] Now you will see whether my word to you will come true[n] or not!”
Provision of Quail
31 Now a wind[a] went out[b] from the Lord and brought quail[c] from the sea, and let them fall[d] near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about three feet[e] high on the surface of the ground. 32 And the people stayed up[f] all that day, all that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail. The one who gathered the least gathered ten homers,[g] and they spread them out[h] for themselves all around the camp.
Questions About the Greatest
18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 He called a child, had him stand among them, 3 and said, “I tell you the truth,[a] unless you turn around and become like little children,[b] you will never[c] enter the kingdom of heaven! 4 Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes[d] a child like this in my name welcomes me.
