羅馬書 9:6-13
神揀選以色列人
6 但這並不是說神的話語[a]落了空，因為由以色列所生的，並不都是以色列人； 7 也不因為是亞伯拉罕的後裔，就都是他的兒女；只有「從以撒生的，才會被稱為你的後裔。」[b] 8 這就是說，肉身的兒女並不是神的兒女，只有應許的兒女才算是後裔。 9 原來所應許的話是這樣的：「到明年[c]這時候我要來，撒拉會生一個兒子。」[d] 10 不僅如此，麗貝卡也是這樣。她由一個人，就是由我們的先祖以撒懷了孕。 11 實際上，雙子[e]還沒有出生，也沒有行善或作惡以前——為了要顯明神的揀選心意不是本於人的行為，而是出於召喚人的那一位—— 12 神[f]就對麗貝卡說：「大的將要服事小的。」[g] 13 正如經上所記：「我愛雅各，卻恨以掃。」[h]
