Psalm 105

God’s Faithfulness to His People

Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples.(A)
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell about all his wondrous works!(B)
Boast in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.(C)
Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always.(D)
Remember the wondrous works he has done,
his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced,[a](E)
you offspring of Abraham his servant,
Jacob’s descendants—his chosen ones.(F)

He is the Lord our God;
his judgments govern the whole earth.(G)
He remembers his covenant forever,
the promise he ordained
for a thousand generations(H)
the covenant he made with Abraham,
swore[b] to Isaac,(I)
10 and confirmed to Jacob as a decree
and to Israel as a permanent covenant:(J)
11 “I will give the land of Canaan to you
as your inherited portion.”(K)

Psalm 105:45

45 All this happened
so that they might keep his statutes
and obey his instructions.(A)
Hallelujah!

Genesis 29:9-14

While he was still speaking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherdess. 10 As soon as Jacob saw his uncle Laban’s daughter Rachel with his sheep,[a] he went up and rolled the stone from the opening and watered his uncle Laban’s sheep. 11 Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept loudly.[b] 12 He told Rachel that he was her father’s relative, Rebekah’s son. She ran and told her father.

Jacob Deceived

13 When Laban heard the news about his sister’s son Jacob, he ran to meet him, hugged him, and kissed him. Then he took him to his house, and Jacob told him all that had happened.

14 Laban said to him, “Yes, you are my own flesh and blood.”[c](A)

After Jacob had stayed with him a month,

Acts 7:44-53

God’s Real Tabernacle

44 “Our ancestors had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern he had seen.(A) 45 Our ancestors in turn received it and with Joshua brought it in when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before them,(B) until the days of David. 46 He found favor in God’s sight and asked that he might provide a dwelling place for the God[a] of Jacob.(C) 47 It was Solomon, rather, who built him a house,(D) 48 but the Most High does not dwell in sanctuaries made with hands, as the prophet says:(E)

49 Heaven is my throne,
and the earth my footstool.
What sort of house will you build for me?
says the Lord,
or what will be my resting place?
50 Did not my hand make all these things?[b](F)

Resisting the Holy Spirit

51 “You stiff-necked(G) people with uncircumcised hearts and ears!(H) You are always resisting the Holy Spirit. As your ancestors did, you do also. 52 Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute?(I) They even killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers(J) you have now become. 53 You received the law under the direction of angels(K) and yet have not kept it.”
