Psalm 95

A Call to Worship and Obey

95 Come, let us sing for joy to Yahweh;
let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving;
with songs let us shout joyfully to him.
For Yahweh is the[a] great God,
and the great king over all gods,
in whose hand are the unexplored places[b] of the earth,
and the heights of the mountains are his,
to whom belongs the sea that he made, [c]
and the dry land that his hands formed.
Come in, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before Yahweh, our maker.
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture
and the sheep of his hand.
Today[d] if you will hear his voice:[e]
“Do not harden your heart as at Meribah,
as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
when your ancestors[f] tried me.
They put me to the test,
even though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I loathed that generation,
and said, ‘They are a people whose heart wanders.
And my ways they do not know.’
11 Therefore I swore in my anger,
‘They shall surely not enter into my rest.’”

Exodus 16:1-8

Yahweh Provides Food in the Desert

16 And they set out from Elim, and all the community of the Israelites[a] came to the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai,[b] in the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt. And all the community of the Israelites[c] grumbled against Moses and against Aaron in the desert. And the Israelites[d] said to them, “If only we had died[e] by the hand of Yahweh in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots[f] of meat, when we ate bread until we were full,[g] because you have brought us out to this desert to kill all of this assembly with hunger.” And Yahweh said to Moses, “Look, I am going to rain down for you bread from the heavens, and the people will go out and gather enough for the day on its day; in that way I will test them: Will they go according to my law or not? And then on the sixth day, they will prepare what they bring, and it will be twice over what they will gather every other day.”

And Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites,[h]In the evening, you will know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt, and in the morning, you will see the glory of Yahweh, for he hears[i] your grumblings against Yahweh, and what are we that you grumble against us?” And Moses said, “When in the evening Yahweh gives you meat to eat and bread in the morning to fill up on,[j] for he hears[k] your grumblings that you grumble against him—and what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against Yahweh.”

Colossians 1:15-23

15 who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all[a] creation, 16 because all things in the heavens and on the earth were created by him, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers, all things were created through him and for him, 17 and he himself is before all things, and in him all things are held together, 18 and he himself is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself may become first in everything, 19 because he was well pleased for all the fullness to dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself, by[b] making peace through the blood of his cross, through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

21 And although you were formerly alienated[c][d] and enemies in attitude, because of your evil deeds, 22 but now you have been reconciled[e] by his physical body[f] through death, to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you remain in the faith, established and steadfast and not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
