Psalm 15

Description of a Citizen of Zion.

A Psalm of David.

15 Lord, who may reside (A)in Your tent?
Who may settle on Your (B)holy hill?
One who (C)walks with integrity, practices righteousness,
And (D)speaks truth in his heart.
He (E)does not slander [a]with his tongue,
Nor (F)do evil to his neighbor,
Nor (G)bring shame on his friend;
A despicable person is despised in his eyes,
But he (H)honors those who fear the Lord;
He (I)takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;
He (J)does not [b]lend his money [c]at interest,
Nor (K)does he take a bribe against the innocent.
(L)One who does these things will never be shaken.

Exodus 34:8-28

And Moses hurried [a](A)to bow low toward the ground and worship. Then he said, “(B)If in any way I have found favor in Your sight, Lord, please may the Lord go along in our midst, even though [b](C)the people are so obstinate, and (D)pardon our wrongdoing and our sin, and (E)take us as Your own [c]possession.”

The Covenant Renewed

10 Then [d]God said, “Behold, (F)I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people (G)I will perform miracles which have not been [e]produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations; and all the people [f]among whom you live will see the working of the Lord, for it is a fearful thing that I am going to perform with you.

11 [g]Be sure to comply with what I am commanding you this day: behold, (H)I am going to drive out the Amorite from you, and the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. 12 (I)Be careful that you do not make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a snare in your midst. 13 (J)But rather, you are to tear down their altars and smash their memorial stones, and cut down their [h](K)Asherim 14 —for (L)you shall not worship any other god, because the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God— 15 otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they would prostitute themselves with their gods and (M)sacrifice to their gods, and someone (N)might invite you [i]to eat of his sacrifice, 16 and (O)you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons also to prostitute themselves with their gods. 17 (P)You shall not make for yourself any gods cast in metal.

18 “You shall keep (Q)the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For (R)seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, [j]as I commanded you, at the appointed time in the (S)month of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.

19 (T)The [k]firstborn from every womb belongs to Me, and all your male livestock, the [l]firstborn from [m]cattle and sheep. 20 (U)You shall redeem with a lamb the firstborn from a donkey; and if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem (V)all the firstborn of your sons. [n](W)None are to appear before Me empty-handed.

21 “You shall work (X)six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during plowing time and harvest you shall rest. 22 And you shall celebrate (Y)the Feast of Weeks, that is, the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year. 23 (Z)Three times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord [o]God, the God of Israel. 24 For I will [p](AA)drive out nations from you and enlarge your borders, and no one will covet your land when you go up three times a year to appear before the Lord your God.

25 (AB)You shall not [q]offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, (AC)nor is the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover to [r]be left over until morning.

26 “You shall bring (AD)the very first of the first fruits of your soil into the house of the Lord your God.

“You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.”

27 Then the Lord said to Moses, “(AE)Write [s]down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made (AF)a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 So he was there with the Lord for (AG)forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And [t](AH)He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, (AI)the Ten [u]Commandments.

John 18:28-32

Jesus before Pilate

28 (A)Then they *brought Jesus from (B)Caiaphas into (C)the [a]Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter (D)the [b]Praetorium, so that (E)they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. 29 (F)Therefore Pilate came out to them and *said, “What accusation are you bringing against this Man?” 30 They answered and said to him, “If this Man were not [c]a criminal, we would not have handed Him over to you.” 31 So Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.” The Jews said to him, “We are not [d]permitted to put anyone to death.” 32 This happened so that (G)the word of Jesus which He said, indicating what kind of death He was going to die, would be fulfilled.
