Psalm 81

A Call to Obedience

For the choir director: on the Gittith. Of Asaph.(A)

Sing for joy to God our strength;
shout in triumph to the God of Jacob.(B)
Lift up a song—play the tambourine,
the melodious lyre, and the harp.(C)
Blow the horn on the day of our feasts[a][b]
during the new moon(D)
and during the full moon.
For this is a statute for Israel,
a judgment of the God of Jacob.(E)
He set it up as an ordinance for Joseph
when He went throughout[c] the land of Egypt.(F)

I heard an unfamiliar language:
“I relieved his shoulder from the burden;
his hands were freed from carrying the basket.(G)
You called out in distress, and I rescued you;
I answered you from the thundercloud.(H)
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.(I)Selah
Listen, My people, and I will admonish you.
Israel, if you would only listen to Me!(J)
There must not be a strange god among you;
you must not bow down to a foreign god.(K)
10 I am Yahweh your God,
who brought you up from the land of Egypt.(L)
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.(M)

Leviticus 23:1-8

Holy Days

23 The Lord spoke to Moses: “Speak to the Israelites and tell them: These are My appointed times,(A) the times of the Lord that you will proclaim as sacred assemblies.(B)

“Work may be done for six days, but on the seventh day there must be a Sabbath of complete rest,(C) a sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; it is a Sabbath(D) to the Lord wherever you live.

“These are the Lord’s appointed times, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times. The Passover(E) to the Lord comes in the first month, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the month. The Festival of Unleavened Bread(F) to the Lord is on the fifteenth day of the same month. For seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly; you are not to do any daily work. You are to present a fire offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day there will be a sacred assembly; you must not do any daily work.”

Romans 8:31-39

The Believer’s Triumph

31 What then are we to say about these things?(A)
If God is for us, who is against us?(B)
32 He did not even spare His own Son(C)
but offered Him up for us all;(D)
how will He not also with Him grant us everything?
33 Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect?(E)
God is the One who justifies.(F)
34 Who is the one who condemns?(G)
Christ Jesus is the One who died,(H)
but even more, has been raised;(I)
He also is at the right hand of God(J)
and intercedes for us.(K)
35 Who can separate us from the love of Christ?
Can affliction(L) or anguish or persecution(M)
or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written:
Because of You
we are being put to death all day long;(N)
we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.(O)[a]
37 No, in all these things we are more than victorious(P)
through Him who loved us.(Q)
38 For I am persuaded that not even death or life,(R)
angels or rulers,(S)
things present or things to come,(T) hostile powers,
39 height or depth, or any other created thing
will have the power to separate us
from the love of God(U) that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!(V)
