Psalm 126

Psalm 126[a]

God, Our Joy and Our Hope

[b]A song of ascents.

When the Lord brought home the captives to Zion,
    we seemed to be dreaming.[c]
Our mouths were filled with laughter
    and our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
    “The Lord has done great things for them.”[d]
The Lord has indeed done great deeds for us,
    and we are overflowing with joy.[e]
[f]Once again restore our fortunes,[g]Lord,
    as you did for the streams in the Negeb.
Those who sow in tears[h]
    will reap with songs of joy.
Those who go forth weeping,
    carrying the seeds to be sown,[i]
will return with shouts of joy,
    carrying their sheaves.

Habakkuk 3:2-6

Lord, I have heard of your renown;
    your work, O Lord, fills me with awe.
Make it live once again in our own time;
    in the course of the years make it known,
    and in your wrath remember to have compassion on us.
God comes from Teman,
    the Holy One from Mount Paran.
His radiance covers the heavens,
    and with his glory the earth is filled.
His splendor is like that of the sunrise;
    rays shine forth from his hand
    where his power lies hidden.
Pestilence goes before him,
    and plague follows close behind.
When he stands up, the earth trembles;
    at his glance the nations panic.
The eternal mountains are shattered;
    along his ancient pathways,
    the age-old hills bow down.

Philippians 3:12-16

12 Racing toward the Goal.[a] It is not that I have already attained this or have yet reached perfection. But I press on to take hold of that for which Christ once took hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not claim to have taken hold of it as yet. Only this one thing: forgetting what is behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the finishing line to win the heavenly prize to which God has called me in Christ Jesus.

15 Those of us who are mature should adopt this same attitude. If on any matter you have a different point of view, this too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us hold fast in our conduct to what we have already attained.
