Psalm 25:1-10

A Plea for Deliverance and Forgiveness

A Psalm of David.

25 To (A)You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, I (B)trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
(C)Let not my enemies triumph over me.
Indeed, let no one who [a]waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

(D)Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

Remember, O Lord, (E)Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they are from of old.
Do not remember (F)the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
(G)According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth,
To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

Genesis 41:37-49

Joseph’s Rise to Power

37 So (A)the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants. 38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man (B)in whom is the Spirit of God?”

39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. 40 (C)You shall be [a]over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” 41 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have (D)set you over all the land of Egypt.”

42 Then Pharaoh (E)took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he (F)clothed him in garments of fine linen (G)and put a gold chain around his neck. 43 And he had him ride in the second (H)chariot which he had; (I)and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him (J)over all the land of Egypt. 44 Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” 45 And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name [b]Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife (K)Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

46 Joseph was thirty years old when he (L)stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt. 47 Now in the seven plentiful years the ground brought forth [c]abundantly. 48 So he gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities; he laid up in every city the food of the fields which surrounded them. 49 Joseph gathered very much grain, (M)as the sand of the sea, until he stopped counting, for it was immeasurable.

Acts 7:9-16

The Patriarchs in Egypt

(A)“And the patriarchs, becoming envious, (B)sold Joseph into Egypt. (C)But God was with him 10 and delivered him out of all his troubles, (D)and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house. 11 (E)Now a famine and great [a]trouble came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance. 12 (F)But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first. 13 And the (G)second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family became known to the Pharaoh. 14 (H)Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob and (I)all his relatives to him, [b]seventy-five people. 15 (J)So Jacob went down to Egypt; (K)and he died, he and our fathers. 16 And (L)they were carried back to Shechem and laid in (M)the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.
