Version
Psalm 30

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death.

A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. A Psalm of David.

30 I will (A)extol You, O Lord, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my (C)enemies rejoice over me.
O Lord my God,
I (D)cried to You for help, and You (E)healed me.
O Lord, You have (F)brought up my soul from [a]Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [b]that I would not (G)go down to the pit.
(H)Sing praise to the Lord, you (I)His godly ones,
And (J)give thanks to His holy [c](K)name.
For (L)His anger is but for a moment,
His (M)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (N)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (O)never be moved.”
O Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (P)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
To You, O Lord, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
“What profit is there in my blood, if I (Q)go down to the pit?
Will the (R)dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?

10 (S)Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me;
O Lord, be my (T)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (U)my mourning into dancing;
You have (V)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (W)gladness,
12 That my [d](X)soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will (Y)give thanks to You forever.

Lamentations 2:1-12

God’s Anger over Israel

How the Lord has (A)covered the daughter of Zion
With a cloud in His anger!
He has (B)cast from heaven to earth
The (C)glory of Israel,
And has not remembered His (D)footstool
In the day of His anger.
The Lord has (E)swallowed up; He has not spared
All the habitations of Jacob.
In His wrath He has (F)thrown down
The strongholds of the daughter of Judah;
He has (G)brought them down to the ground;
He has (H)profaned the kingdom and its princes.
In fierce anger He has cut off
[a]All the (I)strength of Israel;
He has (J)drawn back His right hand
From before the enemy.
And He has (K)burned in Jacob like a flaming fire
Consuming round about.
He has bent His (L)bow like an enemy;
He has set His right hand like an adversary
And slain all that were (M)pleasant to the eye;
In the tent of the daughter of Zion
He has (N)poured out His wrath like fire.
The Lord has become like an (O)enemy.
He has (P)swallowed up Israel;
He has swallowed up all its (Q)palaces,
He has destroyed its strongholds
And (R)multiplied in the daughter of Judah
Mourning and moaning.
And He has violently treated His [b]tabernacle like a garden booth;
He has (S)destroyed His appointed [c]meeting place.
The Lord has (T)caused to be forgotten
The appointed feast and sabbath in Zion,
And He has (U)despised king and priest
In the indignation of His anger.
The Lord has (V)rejected His altar,
He has abandoned His sanctuary;
He (W)has delivered into the hand of the enemy
The walls of her palaces.
They have made a (X)noise in the house of the Lord
As in the day of an appointed feast.
The Lord [d]determined to destroy
The wall of the daughter of Zion.
He has (Y)stretched out a line,
He has not restrained His hand from [e]destroying,
And He has (Z)caused rampart and wall to lament;
They have languished together.
Her (AA)gates have sunk into the ground,
He has destroyed and broken her bars.
Her king and her princes are among the nations;
The (AB)law is no more.
Also, her prophets find
(AC)No vision from the Lord.
10 The elders of the daughter of Zion
(AD)Sit on the ground, they (AE)are silent.
They have thrown (AF)dust on their heads;
They have girded themselves with (AG)sackcloth.
The (AH)virgins of Jerusalem
Have bowed their heads to the ground.
11 My (AI)eyes fail because of tears,
My [f](AJ)spirit is greatly troubled;
My [g](AK)heart is poured out on the earth
(AL)Because of the [h]destruction of the daughter of my people,
When (AM)little ones and infants faint
In the streets of the city.
12 They say to their mothers,
(AN)Where is grain and wine?”
As they faint like a wounded man
In the streets of the city,
As their (AO)life is poured out
On their mothers’ bosom.

2 Corinthians 8:1-7

Great Generosity

Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been (A)given in the churches of (B)Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the (C)wealth of their liberality. For I testify that (D)according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord, begging us with much urging for the (E)favor [a]of participation in the [b](F)support of the [c]saints, and this, not as we had [d]expected, but they first (G)gave themselves to the Lord and to us by (H)the will of God. So we (I)urged (J)Titus that as he had previously (K)made a beginning, so he would also complete in you (L)this gracious work as well.

But just as you (M)abound (N)in everything, in faith and utterance and knowledge and in all earnestness and in the [e]love we inspired in you, see that you (O)abound in this gracious work also.
