A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath day.
92 It is (A)good to give thanks to the Lord
And to (B)sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To (C)declare Your lovingkindness in the morning
And Your (D)faithfulness [a]by night,
3 [b]With the (E)ten-stringed lute and [c]with the (F)harp,
[d]With resounding music [e]upon the (G)lyre.
4 For You, O Lord, have made me glad by [f]what You (H)have done,
I will (I)sing for joy at the (J)works of Your hands.
12 The (A)righteous man will [a]flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a (B)cedar in Lebanon.
13 (C)Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish (D)in the courts of our God.
14 They will still [b](E)yield fruit in old age;
They shall be [c]full of sap and very green,
15 To [d]declare that (F)the Lord is upright;
He is my (G)rock, and there is (H)no unrighteousness in Him.
14 The Lord God said to the serpent,
“(A)Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And (B)dust you will eat
All the days of your life;
15 And I will put (C)enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
(D)He shall [a]bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
16 To the woman He said,
“I will greatly multiply
Your pain [b]in childbirth,
In pain you will (E)bring forth children;
Yet your desire will be for your husband,
And (F)he will rule over you.”
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’;
(G)Cursed is the ground because of you;
(H)In [c]toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.
18 “Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
And you will eat the [d]plants of the field;
19 By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread,
Till you (I)return to the ground,
Because (J)from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust you shall return.”
20 Now the man called his wife’s name [e](K)Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. 21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of (L)Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from (M)the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. 24 So (N)He drove the man out; and at the (O)east of the garden of Eden He stationed the (P)cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to (Q)the tree of life.
Earth Subject to Man
5 For He did not subject to angels [a](A)the world to come, concerning which we are speaking. 6 But one has testified (B)somewhere, saying,
“(C)What is man, that You remember him?
Or the son of man, that You are concerned about him?
7 “(D)You have made him [b]for a little while lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,
[c]And have appointed him over the works of Your hands;
8 (E)You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”
For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now (F)we do not yet see all things subjected to him.
Jesus Briefly Humbled
9 But we do see Him who was (G)made [d]for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, (H)because of the suffering of death (I)crowned with glory and honor, so that (J)by the grace of God He might (K)taste death (L)for everyone.
