¹² When Peter saw this, he spoke to the people: Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why do you look so steadfastly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man walk? ¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate when he had determined to release him. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy and Just One, and asked for a murderer to be given to you, ¹⁵ and killed the Lord of Life – whom God has raised from death, of which we are witnesses. ¹⁶ And his name, through the faith of his name, has made this man sound, whom you see and know. And the faith which is by him has given this man health in the presence of you all.

¹⁷ And now, brethren, I know well that you did it through ignorance, as did also your leaders. ¹⁸ But those things that God before had shown by the mouth of all his prophets, how the Christ would suffer, he has fulfilled this way. ¹⁹ Repent therefore, and turn, so that your sins may be put away when the time of refreshing comes, which we will have from the presence of the Lord,

The singular love of God toward us. How we in response ought to love one another.

3 Behold what love the Father has shown on us, that we should be called the children of God. Because of this, the world does not know you: because it does not know him. ² Dearly beloveds, now we are the children of God. And yet it does not appear what we will be. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him. For we shall see him as he is. ³ And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

  ⁴ Whoever commits sin, commits unrighteousness also. For sin is unrighteousness. ⁵ And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him is no sin. ⁶ As many as abide in him do not sin. Whoever sins has not seen him, neither has known him.

⁷ Babes, let no one deceive you. He who does righteousness is righteous, just as he is righteous.

³⁶ As they were thus speaking, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and said to them, Peace be with you. ³⁷ And they were startled and afraid, supposing they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is even I myself. Handle me and see. For spirits do not have flesh and bones, as you see me to have.

⁴⁰ And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they still could not believe for joy and wonderment, he said to them, Have you any food here? ⁴² And they gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb. ⁴³ And he took it and ate it before them.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the things that I told to you while I was still with you: that all must be fulfilled that was written about me in the law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms.

⁴⁵ Then he opened their wits to understand the scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for Christ to suffer, and to rise again from death the third day, ⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, and must begin at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And you are witnesses of these things.
