Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
5 My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my [a]expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be [b]moved.
7 (A)In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in Him at all times, you people;
(B)Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
14 (A)Cursed be the day in which I was born!
Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me!
15 Let the man be cursed
Who brought news to my father, saying,
“A male child has been born to you!”
Making him very glad.
16 And let that man be like the cities
Which the Lord (B)overthrew, and did not relent;
Let him (C)hear the cry in the morning
And the shouting at noon,
17 (D)Because he did not kill me from the womb,
That my mother might have been my grave,
And her womb always enlarged with me.
18 (E)Why did I come forth from the womb to (F)see [a]labor and sorrow,
That my days should be consumed with shame?
Woe to the Impenitent Cities(A)
13 (B)“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! (C)For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 (D)And you, Capernaum, [a]who are (E)exalted to heaven, (F)will be brought down to Hades. 16 (G)He who hears you hears Me, (H)he who rejects you rejects Me, and (I)he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”
