Version
Psalm 35:11-28

11 Violent men perjure themselves,[a]
and falsely accuse me.[b]
12 They repay me evil for the good I have done;[c]
I am overwhelmed with sorrow.[d]
13 When they were sick, I wore sackcloth,[e]
and refrained from eating food.[f]
(If I am lying, may my prayers go unanswered.)[g]
14 I mourned for them as I would for a friend or my brother.[h]
I bowed down[i] in sorrow as if I were mourning for my mother.[j]
15 But when I stumbled, they rejoiced and gathered together;
they gathered together to ambush me.[k]
They tore at me without stopping to rest.[l]
16 When I tripped, they taunted me relentlessly,[m]
and tried to bite me.[n]
17 O Lord, how long are you going to watch this?
Rescue[o] me[p] from their destructive attacks;
guard my life[q] from the young lions.
18 Then I will give you thanks in the great assembly;[r]
I will praise you before a large crowd of people.[s]
19 Do not let those who are my enemies for no reason[t] gloat[u] over me.
Do not let those who hate me without cause carry out their wicked schemes.[v]
20 For they do not try to make peace with others,[w]
but plan ways to deceive those who live peacefully in the land.[x]
21 They are ready to devour me;[y]
they say, “Aha! Aha! We’ve got you!”[z]
22 But you take notice,[aa] Lord; do not be silent!
O Lord, do not remain far away from me.
23 Rouse yourself, wake up[ab] and vindicate me.[ac]
My God and Lord, defend my just cause.[ad]
24 Vindicate me by your justice, O Lord my God.
Do not let them gloat[ae] over me.
25 Do not let them say to themselves,[af] “Aha! We have what we wanted!”[ag]
Do not let them say, “We have devoured him.”
26 May those who rejoice in my troubles be totally embarrassed and ashamed.[ah]
May those who arrogantly taunt me be covered with shame and humiliation.[ai]
27 May those who desire my vindication shout for joy and rejoice.
May they continually say,[aj] “May the Lord be praised,[ak] for he wants his servant to be secure.”[al]
28 Then I will tell others about your justice,[am]
and praise you all day long.[an]

Exodus 35:1-29

Sabbath Regulations

35 Moses assembled the whole community of the Israelites and said to them, “These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do.[a] In six days[b] work may be done, but on the seventh day there must be a holy day[c] for you, a Sabbath of complete rest to the Lord.[d] Anyone who does work on it will be put to death. You must not kindle a fire[e] in any of your homes[f] on the Sabbath day.”[g]

Willing Workers

[h] Moses spoke to the whole community of the Israelites, “This is the word that the Lord has commanded: ‘Take[i] an offering for the Lord. Let everyone who has a willing heart[j] bring[k] an offering to the Lord:[l] gold, silver, bronze; blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen; goats’ hair; ram skins dyed red; fine leather;[m] acacia wood; olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; onyx stones, and other gems[n] for mounting[o] on the ephod and the breastpiece. 10 Every skilled person[p] among you is to come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 the tabernacle with[q] its tent, its covering, its clasps, its frames, its crossbars, its posts, and its bases; 12 the ark, with its poles, the atonement lid, and the special curtain that conceals it; 13 the table with its poles and all its vessels, and the Bread of the Presence; 14 the lampstand for[r] the light and its accessories, its lamps, and oil for the light; 15 and the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense; the hanging for the door at the entrance of the tabernacle; 16 the altar for the burnt offering with its bronze grating that is on it, its poles, and all its utensils; the large basin and its pedestal; 17 the hangings of the courtyard, its posts and its bases, and the curtain for the gateway to the courtyard; 18 tent pegs for the tabernacle and tent pegs for the courtyard and their ropes; 19 the woven garments for serving in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to minister as priests.’”

20 So the whole community of the Israelites went out from the presence of Moses. 21 Everyone[s] whose heart stirred him to action[t] and everyone whose spirit was willing[u] came and brought the offering for the Lord for the work of the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments.[v] 22 They came, men and women alike,[w] all who had willing hearts. They brought brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments, all kinds of gold jewelry,[x] and everyone came who waved[y] a wave offering of gold to the Lord.

23 Everyone who had[z] blue, purple, or[aa] scarlet yarn, fine linen, goats’ hair, ram skins dyed red, or fine leather[ab] brought them.[ac] 24 Everyone making an offering of silver or bronze brought it as[ad] an offering to the Lord, and everyone who had acacia wood[ae] for any work of the service brought it.[af] 25 Every woman who was skilled[ag] spun with her hands and brought what she had spun, blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen, 26 and all the women whose heart stirred them to action and who were skilled[ah] spun goats’ hair.

27 The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted[ai] for the ephod and the breastpiece, 28 and spices and olive oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense.

29 The Israelites brought a freewill offering to the Lord, every man and woman whose heart was willing to bring materials for all the work that the Lord through[aj] Moses had commanded them[ak] to do.

Acts 10:9-23

About noon[a] the next day, while they were on their way and approaching[b] the city, Peter went up on the roof[c] to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing the meal, a trance came over him.[d] 11 He[e] saw heaven[f] opened[g] and an object something like a large sheet[h] descending,[i] being let down to earth[j] by its four corners. 12 In it[k] were all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles[l] of the earth and wild birds.[m] 13 Then[n] a voice said[o] to him, “Get up, Peter; slaughter[p] and eat!” 14 But Peter said, “Certainly not, Lord, for I have never eaten anything defiled and ritually unclean!”[q] 15 The voice[r] spoke to him again, a second time, “What God has made clean, you must not consider[s] ritually unclean!”[t] 16 This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into heaven.[u]

17 Now while Peter was puzzling over[v] what the vision he had seen could signify, the men sent by Cornelius had learned where Simon’s house was[w] and approached[x] the gate. 18 They[y] called out to ask if Simon, known as Peter,[z] was staying there as a guest. 19 While Peter was still thinking seriously about[aa] the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Look! Three men are looking for you. 20 But get up,[ab] go down, and accompany them without hesitation,[ac] because I have sent them.” 21 So Peter went down[ad] to the men and said, “Here I am,[ae] the person you’re looking for. Why have you come?” 22 They said, “Cornelius the centurion,[af] a righteous[ag] and God-fearing man, well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation,[ah] was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear a message[ai] from you.” 23 So Peter[aj] invited them in and entertained them as guests.

On the next day he got up and set out[ak] with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa[al] accompanied him.
