Psalm 5

Lead Me in Your Righteousness

To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.

Give ear to my words, O Lord;
    consider my (A)groaning.
Give attention to the sound of my cry,
    my (B)King and my God,
    for (C)to you do I pray.
O Lord, in (D)the morning you hear my voice;
    in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you[a] and (E)watch.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
    evil may not dwell with you.
The (F)boastful shall not (G)stand before your eyes;
    you (H)hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who speak (I)lies;
    the Lord abhors (J)the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
    will enter your house.
I will (K)bow down (L)towards your (M)holy temple
    in the fear of you.
(N)Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
    because of my enemies;
    (O)make your way straight before me.
For there is no truth in their mouth;
    their inmost self is (P)destruction;
(Q)their throat is (R)an open grave;
    they (S)flatter with their tongue.
10 (T)Make them bear their guilt, O God;
    let them (U)fall by their own counsels;
because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,
    for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who (V)take refuge in you (W)rejoice;
    let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
    that those who love your name may (X)exult in you.
12 For you (Y)bless the righteous, O Lord;
    you (Z)cover him with favour as with (AA)a shield.

Zechariah 6:9-15

The Crown and the Temple

And the word of the Lord came to me: 10 “Take from the exiles (A)Heldai, Tobijah, and (B)Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon, and go the same day to the house of Josiah, the son of (C)Zephaniah. 11 Take from them silver and gold, and make a crown, (D)and set it on the head of (E)Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 And say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is (F)the Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and (G)he shall build the temple of the Lord. 13 (H)It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord (I)and shall bear royal honour, and shall sit and rule on his throne. And there shall be a (J)priest on his throne, (K)and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”’ 14 And the crown shall be in the temple of the Lord as (L)a reminder to (M)Helem,[a] (N)Tobijah, (O)Jedaiah, and Hen (P)the son of Zephaniah.

15 (Q)“And those who are far off shall come and (R)help to build the temple of the Lord. (S)And you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. (T)And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”

1 Peter 1:3-9

Born Again to a Living Hope

(A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! (B)According to his great mercy, (C)he has caused us to be born again to a living hope (D)through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to (E)an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and (F)unfading, (G)kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded (H)through faith for a salvation (I)ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by (J)various trials, so that (K)the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes (L)though it is tested by (M)fire—may be found to result in (N)praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (O)Though you have not seen him, you love him. (P)Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining (Q)the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
