Psalm 106:1-6

Give Thanks to the Lord, for He Is Good

106 (A)Praise the Lord!
(B)Oh give thanks to the Lord, (C)for he is good,
    (D)for his steadfast love endures for ever!
Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord,
    or declare all his praise?
Blessed are they who observe justice,
    who (E)do righteousness at all times!
(F)Remember me, O Lord, when you show favour to your people;
    help me when you save them,[a]
that I may look upon the prosperity of your (G)chosen ones,
    that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,
    that I may glory with your inheritance.
(H)Both we and (I)our fathers have sinned;
    we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.

Psalm 106:13-23

13 But they soon (A)forgot his works;
    they did not wait for (B)his counsel.
14 But they had (C)a wanton craving in the wilderness,
    and (D)put God to the test in the desert;
15 he (E)gave them what they asked,
    but sent (F)a wasting disease among them.
16 When men in the camp (G)were jealous of Moses
    and Aaron, (H)the holy one of the Lord,
17 (I)the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
    and covered the company of Abiram.
18 (J)Fire also broke out in their company;
    the flame burned up the wicked.
19 They (K)made a calf in Horeb
    and worshipped a metal image.
20 They (L)exchanged the glory of God
    for the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They (M)forgot God, their Saviour,
    who had done great things in Egypt,
22 wondrous works in (N)the land of Ham,
    and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23 Therefore (O)he said he would destroy them—
    had not Moses, his (P)chosen one,
(Q)stood in the breach before him,
    to turn away his wrath from destroying them.

Psalm 106:47-48

47 (A)Save us, O Lord our God,
    and (B)gather us from among the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
    and glory in your praise.
48 (C)Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting!
(D)And let all the people say, “Amen!”
    (E)Praise the Lord!

Deuteronomy 4:9-14

(A)“Only take care, and (B)keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. (C)Make them known to your children and your children's children— 10 how on (D)the day that you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, the Lord said to me, (E)‘Gather the people to me, that I may let them hear my words, (F)so that they may learn to fear (G)me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children so.’ 11 And (H)you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, while (I)the mountain burned with fire to the heart of heaven, wrapped in darkness, cloud, and gloom. 12 Then (J)the Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, (K)but saw no form; (L)there was only a voice. 13 (M)And he declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, that is, (N)the Ten Commandments,[a] (O)and he wrote them on two tablets of stone. 14 And (P)the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and rules, that you might do them in the land that you are going over to possess.

1 Timothy 4:6-16

A Good Servant of Christ Jesus

(A)If you put these things before the brothers,[a] you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have (B)followed. Have nothing to do with irreverent, (C)silly myths. Rather (D)train yourself for godliness; for while (E)bodily training is of some value, godliness (F)is of value in every way, as (G)it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is (H)trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and strive,[b] because we have our hope set on the living God, (I)who is the Saviour of all people, especially of those who believe.

11 Command and teach (J)these things. 12 (K)Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers (L)an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 (M)Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you (N)by prophecy when the council of elders (O)laid their hands on you. 15 Practise these things, immerse yourself in them,[c] so that (P)all may see your progress. 16 (Q)Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save (R)both yourself and (S)your hearers.
