The Steadfast Love of God Endures

To the choirmaster. A Maskil[a] of David, when (A)Doeg, the Edomite, came and told Saul, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”

52 Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man?
    The steadfast love of God endures all the day.
Your (B)tongue plots destruction,
    like (C)a sharp razor, you (D)worker of deceit.
You love evil more than good,
    and (E)lying more than speaking what is right. Selah
You love all words that devour,
    O deceitful tongue.

But God will break you down forever;
    he will snatch and (F)tear you from your tent;
    he will uproot you from (G)the land of the living. Selah
The righteous shall (H)see and fear,
    and shall (I)laugh at him, saying,
“See the man who would not make
    God his refuge,
but (J)trusted in the abundance of his riches
    and sought refuge in his own destruction!”[b]

But I am like (K)a green olive tree
    in the house of God.
I trust in the steadfast love of God
    forever and ever.
I will thank you forever,
    because you have done it.
I will wait for your name, (L)for it is good,
    in the presence of the (M)godly.

Jeremiah 21:11-14

Message to the House of David

11 “And to the house of the king of Judah say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, 12 O house of David! Thus says the Lord:

(A)“‘Execute justice (B)in the morning,
    and deliver from the hand of the oppressor
    him who has been robbed,
(C)lest my wrath go forth like fire,
    and burn with none to quench it,
    because of your evil deeds.’”

13 (D)“Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley,
    O rock of the plain,
declares the Lord;
you who say, (E)‘Who shall come down against us,
    or who shall enter our habitations?’
14 (F)I will punish you according to (G)the fruit of your deeds,
declares the Lord;
    (H)I will kindle a fire in her forest,
    (I)and it shall devour all that is around her.”

Revelation 21:22-22:5

22 And (A)I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city (B)has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for (C)the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light (D)will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth (E)will bring their glory into it, 25 and (F)its gates will never be shut by day—and (G)there will be no night there. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But (H)nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's (I)book of life.

The River of Life

22 Then the angel[a] showed me (J)the river of (K)the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of (L)the street of the city; (M)also, on either side of the river, (N)the tree of life[b] with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were (O)for the healing of the nations. (P)No longer will there be anything accursed, but (Q)the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and (R)his servants will worship him. (S)They will see his face, and (T)his name will be on their foreheads. And (U)night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp (V)or sun, for (W)the Lord God will be their light, and (X)they will reign forever and ever.
