96 (A)Sing to the Lord a (B)new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Tell of (D)His glory among the nations,
His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (E)great is the Lord, and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is to be (G)feared (H)above all gods.
5 For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [a]idols,
But (J)the Lord made the heavens.
6 (K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
10 Say among the nations, “(A)The Lord reigns;
Indeed, the (B)world is firmly established, it will not be moved;
He will (C)judge the peoples fairly.”
11 May the (D)heavens be joyful, and may the (E)earth rejoice;
May (F)the sea [a]roar, and [b]all it contains;
12 May the (G)field be jubilant, and all that is in it.
Then all the (H)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before the Lord, (I)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(J)He will judge the world in righteousness,
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
14 “When you enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and you (A)take possession of it and live in it, and you say, ‘(B)I will appoint a king over me like all the nations who are around me,’ 15 you shall in fact appoint a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses. One (C)from among your countrymen you shall appoint as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves, anyone who is not your countryman. 16 (D)In any case, he is not to acquire many horses for himself, nor shall he (E)make the people return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since (F)the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’ 17 And (G)he shall not acquire many wives for himself, so that his heart does not turn away; nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself.
18 “Now it shall come about, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this Law on a scroll [a](H)in the presence of the Levitical priests. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it (I)all the days of his life, so that he will learn to fear the Lord his God, [b]by carefully following all the words of this Law and these statutes, 20 so that his heart will not be haughty toward his countrymen, (J)and that he will not turn away from the commandment to the right or the left, so that he and his sons may [c]live long in his kingdom in the midst of Israel.
Serve God Willingly
5 (A)Therefore, I urge elders among you, as your (B)fellow elder and a (C)witness of the sufferings of Christ, and one who is also a [a](D)fellow partaker of the glory that is to be revealed: 2 shepherd (E)the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, (F)not under compulsion but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and (G)not [b]with greed but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as (H)domineering over [c]those assigned to your care, but by [d]proving to be [e](I)examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief (J)Shepherd appears, you will receive the (K)unfading [f](L)crown of glory. 5 (M)You [g]younger men, likewise, (N)be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with (O)humility toward one another, because (P)God is opposed to the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.
