Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
My Soul Waits for the Lord
A Song of (A)Ascents.
130 Out of (B)the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
2 O Lord, hear my voice!
(C)Let your ears be attentive
to (D)the voice of my pleas for mercy!
3 If you, O Lord, should (E)mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could (F)stand?
4 But with you there is (G)forgiveness,
(H)that you may be feared.
8 “But you, O mountains of Israel, (A)shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel, for (B)they will soon come home. 9 For (C)behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and (D)you shall be tilled and sown. 10 And (E)I will multiply people on you, the whole house of Israel, all of it. (F)The cities shall be inhabited and the waste places rebuilt. 11 And I will multiply on you (G)man and beast, and (H)they shall multiply and be fruitful. And I will cause you to be inhabited as in (I)your former times, and (J)will do more good to you than ever before. (K)Then you will know that I am the Lord. 12 I will let people walk on you, even my people Israel. (L)And they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no longer (M)bereave them of children. 13 Thus says the Lord God: Because they say to you, (N)‘You devour people, and you bereave your nation of children,’ 14 therefore you shall no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the Lord God. 15 And I will not let you hear anymore (O)the reproach of the nations, and you shall no longer bear the disgrace of the peoples and no longer cause your nation to stumble, declares the Lord God.”
44 Then he said to them, (A)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, (B)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then (C)he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus (D)it is written, (E)that the Christ should suffer and on the third day (F)rise from the dead, 47 and that (G)repentance for[a] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed (H)in his name (I)to all nations, (J)beginning from Jerusalem. 48 (K)You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending (L)the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you (M)are clothed with (N)power (O)from on high.”
The Ascension
50 And (P)he led them out as far as (Q)Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, (R)he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they (S)worshiped him and (T)returned to Jerusalem (U)with great joy, 53 and (V)were continually in the temple (W)blessing God.
