Psalm 103:1-8

Praise for the Lords Mercies.

A Psalm of David.

103 (A)Bless the Lord, my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His (B)holy name.
Bless the Lord, my soul,
And (C)do not forget any of His benefits;
Who (D)pardons all your guilt,
Who (E)heals all your diseases;
Who (F)redeems your life from the pit,
Who (G)crowns you with favor and compassion;
Who (H)satisfies your [a]years with good things,
So that your youth is (I)renewed like the eagle.

The Lord (J)performs [b]righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are (K)oppressed.
He (L)made known His ways to Moses,
His (M)deeds to the sons of Israel.
The Lord is (N)compassionate and gracious,
(O)Slow to anger and abounding in mercy.

Numbers 15:32-41

Sabbath-breaking Punished

32 Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man (A)gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 And those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation; 34 and they placed him in custody, (B)because it had not been decided what should be done to him. 35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must be put to death; (C)all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” 36 So all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him [a]to death with stones, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

37 The Lord also spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the sons of Israel and tell them that they shall make for themselves (D)tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and that they shall put on the tassel of each corner a [b]violet thread. 39 It shall be a tassel for you [c]to look at and (E)remember all the commandments of the Lord, so that you will do them and not [d]follow your own heart and your own eyes, [e]which led you to prostitute yourselves, 40 so that you will remember and do all My commandments and (F)be holy to your God. 41 I am the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the Lord your God.”

Hebrews 12:3-17

For (A)consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary [a](B)and lose heart.

A Father’s Discipline

(C)You have not yet resisted [b](D)to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,

(E)My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
Nor (F)faint when you are punished by Him;
(G)For (H)whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
And He punishes every son whom He accepts.”

It is for discipline that you endure; (I)God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, (J)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Furthermore, we had [c]earthly fathers to discipline us, and we (K)respected them; shall we not much more be subject to (L)the Father of [d]spirits, and (M)live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, (N)so that we may share His holiness. 11 (O)For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the (P)peaceful fruit of righteousness.

12 Therefore, [e](Q)strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, 13 and (R)make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is impaired may not be dislocated, but rather (S)be healed.

14 (T)Pursue peace with all people, and the (U)holiness without which no one will (V)see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one (W)comes short of the grace of God; that no (X)root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many become (Y)defiled; 16 that there be no (Z)sexually immoral or (AA)godless person like Esau, (AB)who sold his own birthright for a single meal. 17 For you know that even afterward, (AC)when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears.
