Psalm 99

The Lord Our God Is Holy

99 (A)The Lord reigns; (B)let the peoples tremble!
    He (C)sits enthroned upon the cherubim; (D)let the earth quake!
The Lord is (E)great in Zion;
    he is (F)exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your (G)great and awesome name!
    (H)Holy is he!
(I)The King in his might (J)loves justice.[a]
    You have established equity;
you have executed justice
    and righteousness in Jacob.
(K)Exalt the Lord our God;
    (L)worship at his (M)footstool!
    (N)Holy is he!

(O)Moses and Aaron were among his (P)priests,
    Samuel also was among those who (Q)called upon his name.
    They (R)called to the Lord, and he answered them.
In (S)the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
    they (T)kept his testimonies
    and the statute that he gave them.

O Lord our God, you answered them;
    you were (U)a forgiving God to them,
    but (V)an avenger of their wrongdoings.
Exalt the Lord our God,
    and worship at his (W)holy mountain;
    for the Lord our God is holy!

Deuteronomy 9:6-14

“Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are (A)a stubborn people. Remember and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. (B)From the day you came out of the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord. Even (C)at Horeb you provoked the Lord to wrath, and the Lord was so angry with you that he was ready to destroy you. (D)When I went up the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the Lord made with you, I remained on the mountain (E)forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water. 10 And (F)the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them were all the words that the Lord had spoken with you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire (G)on the day of the assembly. 11 And at the end of forty days and forty nights the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant. 12 Then the Lord said to me, (H)‘Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you have brought from Egypt have acted corruptly. They have (I)turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them; they have made themselves a metal image.’

The Golden Calf

13 (J)“Furthermore, the Lord said to me, ‘I have seen this people, and behold, it is (K)a stubborn people. 14 (L)Let me alone, that I may destroy them and (M)blot out their name from under heaven. And (N)I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’

Acts 10:1-8

Peter and Cornelius

10 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of (A)what was known as the Italian Cohort, a devout man (B)who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God. (C)About the ninth hour of the day[a] (D)he saw clearly in a vision (E)an angel of God come in and say to him, “Cornelius.” And he stared at him in terror and said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms (F)have ascended (G)as a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging (H)with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.” When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him, and having related everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
