I Trust in the Lovingkindness of God

For the choir director. A ^[a]Maskil of David. ^[b]When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul and said to him, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”

³⁰ Then Joshua built an altar to Yahweh, the God of Israel, on ^(A)Mount Ebal, ³¹ just as Moses the servant of Yahweh had commanded the sons of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, ^(B)an altar of uncut stones on which no man had wielded an iron tool; and they offered burnt offerings on it to Yahweh and sacrificed peace offerings. ³² And he ^(C)wrote there on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which ^[a]he had written, in the presence of the sons of Israel. ^33 (D)And all Israel with their elders and officers and their judges were standing on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, the sojourner as well as the native. Half of them stood in front of ^(E)Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of Yahweh had given a command at first to bless the people of Israel. ³⁴ Then afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in ^(F)the book of the law. ³⁵ There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel ^(G)with the women and the little ones and the sojourners who were ^[b]going among them.

God’s Righteous Judgment

2 Therefore you are ^(A)without excuse, ^(B)O man, everyone who passes judgment, for in that which ^(C)you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. ² And we know that the judgment of God ^[a]rightly falls upon those who practice such things. ³ But do you presume this, ^(D)O man—who passes judgment on those who practice such things and does the same—that you will escape the judgment of God? ⁴ Or do you think lightly of ^(E)the riches of His ^(F)kindness and ^(G)forbearance and ^(H)patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ But ^[b]because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart ^(I)you are storing up wrath for yourself ^(J)in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, ^6 (K)who will repay to each according to his works: ⁷ to those who by ^(L)perseverance in doing good seek for ^(M)glory and honor and ^(N)immortality, ^(O)eternal life; ⁸ but to those who are ^(P)selfishly ambitious and ^(Q)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and anger. ⁹ There will be ^(R)affliction and turmoil ^[c]for every soul of man who works out evil, of the Jew ^(S)first and also of the Greek, ¹⁰ but ^(T)glory and honor and peace to everyone who works good, to the Jew ^(U)first and also to the Greek. ¹¹ For ^(V)there is no partiality with God.
