A Man with a Measuring Cord
2 [a]Then I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, there was a man with a (A)measuring cord in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To (B)measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.” 3 And behold, the (C)angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him 4 and said to him, “Run, speak to that (D)young man, saying, ‘(E)Jerusalem will be inhabited [b](F)without walls because of the (G)multitude of men and cattle within it. 5 Indeed I,’ declares Yahweh, ‘will be a (H)wall of fire [c]around her, and I will be the (I)glory in her midst.’”
A Flying Scroll
5 Then I lifted up my eyes again and saw, and behold, a flying (A)scroll. 2 And he said to me, “(B)What do you see?” And I said, “I see a flying scroll; its length is [a]twenty cubits and its width ten cubits.” 3 Then he said to me, “This is the (C)curse that is going forth over the face of the whole [b]land; surely everyone who (D)steals will be [c]purged away according to [d]the writing on one side, and everyone who (E)swears will be [e]purged away according to the writing on the other side. 4 I will (F)make it go forth,” declares Yahweh of hosts, “and it will (G)enter the house of the (H)thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and (I)consume it with its timber and stones.”
Admonishment and Instruction
12 But we ask of you, brothers, that you (A)know those (B)who labor among you, and (C)lead you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and that you regard them very highly in love because of their work. (D)Live in peace with one another. 14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish (E)the [a]unruly, encourage (F)the fainthearted, help (G)the weak, be (H)patient with everyone. 15 See that (I)no one repays another with evil for evil, but always (J)seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. 16 (K)Rejoice always; 17 (L)pray without ceasing; 18 in everything (M)give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
