Psalm 63

The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.

A Psalm of David, [a]when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

63 O God, (A)You are my God; I shall seek You [b]earnestly;
My soul (B)thirsts for You, my flesh [c]yearns for You,
In a (C)dry and weary land where there is no water.
Thus I have (D)seen You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your (E)lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You (F)as long as I live;
I will (G)lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul is (H)satisfied as with [d]marrow and fatness,
And my mouth offers (I)praises with joyful lips.

When I remember You (J)on my bed,
I meditate on You in the (K)night watches,
For (L)You have been my help,
And in the (M)shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
My soul (N)clings [e]to You;
Your (O)right hand upholds me.

But those who (P)seek my [f]life to destroy it,
Will go into the [g](Q)depths of the earth.
10 [h]They will be [i](R)delivered over to the power of the sword;
They will be a [j](S)prey for foxes.
11 But the (T)king will rejoice in God;
Everyone who (U)swears by Him will glory,
For the (V)mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.

Amos 8:7-14

The Lord has (A)sworn by the (B)pride of Jacob,
“Indeed, I will (C)never forget any of their deeds.
“Because of this will not the land (D)quake
And everyone who dwells in it (E)mourn?
Indeed, all of it will (F)rise up like the Nile,
And it will be tossed about
And subside like the Nile of Egypt.
“It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord God,
“That I will make the (G)sun go down at noon
And (H)make the earth dark in [a]broad daylight.
10 “Then I will (I)turn your festivals into mourning
And all your songs into [b]lamentation;
And I will bring (J)sackcloth on everyone’s loins
And baldness on every head.
And I will make it (K)like a time of mourning for an only son,
And the end of it will be like a bitter day.

11 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God,
“When I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather (L)for hearing the words of the Lord.
12 “People will stagger from sea to sea
And from the north even to the east;
They will go to and fro to (M)seek the word of the Lord,
But they will not find it.
13 “In that day the beautiful (N)virgins
And the young men will (O)faint from thirst.
14 As for those who swear by the [c](P)guilt of Samaria,
Who say, ‘As your god lives, O (Q)Dan,’
And, ‘As the way of (R)Beersheba lives,’
They will fall and (S)not rise again.”

1 Corinthians 14:20-25

Instruction for the Church

20 (A)Brethren, (B)do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil (C)be infants, but in your thinking be mature. 21 In (D)the Law it is written, “(E)By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to Me,” says the Lord. 22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but (F)prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe. 23 Therefore if the whole church assembles together and all speak in tongues, and [a]ungifted men or unbelievers enter, will they not say that (G)you are mad? 24 But if all (H)prophesy, and an unbeliever or an [b]ungifted man enters, he is (I)convicted by all, he is called to account by all; 25 (J)the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will (K)fall on his face and worship God, (L)declaring that God is certainly among you.
