Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
The Lord Extolled for His Goodness.
A Psalm of Praise, of David.
145 I will (A)extol You, (B)my God, O King,
And I will (C)bless Your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless You,
And I will (D)praise Your name forever and ever.
3 (E)Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His (F)greatness is unsearchable.
4 One (G)generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
5 On the (H)glorious [a]splendor of Your majesty
And (I)on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
6 Men shall speak of the [b]power of Your (J)awesome acts,
And I will (K)tell of Your greatness.
7 They shall [c]eagerly utter the memory of Your (L)abundant goodness
And will (M)shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
8 The Lord is (N)gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
13 And He will (A)stretch out His hand against the north
And destroy (B)Assyria,
And He will make (C)Nineveh a desolation,
Parched like the wilderness.
14 Flocks will lie down in her midst,
[a]All beasts which range in herds;
Both the [b](D)pelican and the hedgehog
Will lodge in [c]the tops of her pillars;
[d]Birds will sing in the window,
Desolation will be on the threshold;
For He has laid bare the cedar work.
15 This is the (E)exultant city
Which (F)dwells securely,
Who says in her heart,
“(G)I am, and there is no one besides me.”
How she has become a (H)desolation,
A resting place for beasts!
(I)Everyone who passes by her will hiss
And wave his hand in contempt.
23 And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, (A)it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I say to you, (B)it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?” 26 And looking at them Jesus said to them, “(C)With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
The Disciples’ Reward
27 Then Peter said to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?” 28 And Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when (D)the Son of Man will sit on [a]His glorious throne, (E)you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And (F)everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [b]or children or farms for My name’s sake, will receive [c]many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. 30 (G)But many who are first will be last; and the last, first.
