Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Teth
65 You have dealt well with Your slave,
O Yahweh, according to Your word.
66 Teach me good [a](A)discernment and knowledge,
For I believe in Your commandments.
67 (B)Before I was afflicted I went astray,
But now I keep Your word.
68 You are (C)good and (D)do good;
(E)Teach me Your statutes.
69 The arrogant have (F)smeared me with lying;
With all my heart I will (G)observe Your precepts.
70 Their heart is [b](H)covered with fat,
But I (I)delight in Your law.
71 It is (J)good for me that I was afflicted,
That I may learn Your statutes.
72 The (K)law of Your mouth is better to me
Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
27 ‘Now if [a]anyone of [b]the common people sins (A)unintentionally in doing any of the [c]things which Yahweh has commanded not to be done, and becomes guilty, 28 (B)or if his sin which he has [d]committed is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a [e](C)goat, a (D)female without blemish, for his sin which he has [f]committed. 29 (E)And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and (F)slaughter the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering. 30 And the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of (G)the altar of burnt offering; and (H)all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar. 31 (I)Then he shall remove all its fat, just as the fat was removed from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar for (J)a soothing aroma to Yahweh. Thus the priest shall make atonement for him, [g]and he will be forgiven.
The Statutes of Guilt Offerings
14 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 15 “(A)If a person acts unfaithfully and sins (B)unintentionally against the holy things of Yahweh, then he shall bring his (C)guilt offering to Yahweh: (D)a ram without blemish from the flock, according to your valuation in silver by [a]shekels, in terms of the (E)shekel of the sanctuary, for a guilt offering. 16 (F)And he shall make restitution for that which he has sinned against the holy thing, and he shall add to it a fifth part of it and give it to the priest. (G)The priest shall then make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and it will be forgiven him.
11 (A)Beloved, (B)I urge you as (C)sojourners and exiles to abstain from (D)fleshly lusts which wage (E)war against the soul, 12 (F)by keeping your conduct excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing which they (G)slander you as evildoers, they may [a]because of your good works, as they observe them, (H)glorify God (I)in the day of [b]visitation.
Be Subject to Authority
13 (J)Be subject for the sake of the Lord to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 14 or to governors as sent [c]by him (K)for the punishment of evildoers and the (L)praise of those who do good. 15 For [d](M)such is the will of God that by doing good you may (N)silence the ignorance of foolish men. 16 Act as (O)free people, and [e]do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as (P)slaves of God. 17 (Q)Honor all people, (R)love the [f]brethren, (S)fear God, (T)honor the [g]king.
