Psalm 18:1-19

18 I will love You dearly, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress; and He Who delivers me, my God and my strength. In Him will I trust. My shield. The horn, also, of my salvation. My refuge.

I will call upon the LORD, Who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be safe from my enemies.

The sorrows of death surrounded me. And the floods of wickedness made me afraid.

The sorrows of the grave have surrounded me. The snares of death overtook me.

But in my trouble, I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of His Temple. And my cry came before Him, into His ears.

Then the Earth trembled and quaked. The foundations of the mountains also moved and shook because He was angry.

Smoke went out at His nostrils; and a consuming fire out of His mouth, at which coals were kindled.

He also bowed the heavens and came down, and darkness was under His feet.

10 And He rode upon a cherub and flew. And He came flying upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness His secret place, his pavilion all around Him; darkness of waters and clouds of the air.

12 At the brightness of His presence, His clouds passed; hailstones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heaven, and the Highest gave His voice; hailstones and coals of fire.

14 Then He sent out His arrows and scattered them. And He increased lightnings and destroyed them.

15 And the channels of waters were seen. And the foundations of the world were discovered at Your rebuking, O LORD; at the blasting of the breath of Your nostrils.

16 He has sent down from above and taken me. He has drawn me out of many waters.

17 He has delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hate me. For they were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me on the day of my calamity. But the LORD was my stay.

19 He also brought me forth into a large place. He delivered me because He favored me.

Job 36:24-33

24 “Remember that you magnify His work, which men behold.

25 “All men see it, and men behold it far off.

26 “Behold, God is excellent, and we do not know Him. Nor can the number of His years be searched out.

27 “For He restrains the drops of water that the rain pours down by its vapor,

28 “which rain the clouds drop and let fall abundantly upon man.

29 “Who can know the divisions of the clouds, the noise of His Tabernacle?

30 “Behold, He spreads His light upon it, and covers the bottom of the sea.

31 “For by them He judges the people and gives food abundantly.

32 “He covers His Hands with lightning, and commands it to strike.

33 “The roar reveals it, and also the cattle, concerning its rising.”

Job 37:14-24

14 “Listen to this, O Job! Stand and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 “Do you know when God placed them, and caused the light of His cloud to shine?

16 “Have you known the variety of the cloud, the wondrous works of Him Who is perfect in knowledge,

17 “how your clothes are warm when He makes the Earth quiet through the South wind?

18 “Have you stretched out the heavens, which are strong as a molten glass?

19 “Tell us what we shall say to Him. We cannot arrange anything because of darkness.

20 “Shall it be told to Him when I speak? Or shall man speak when he shall be destroyed?

21 “And now men do not see the light which shines in the clouds, but the wind passes and cleanses them.

22 “The brightness comes out of the North, the praise to God, which is terrible.

23 “The Almighty: we cannot find him. Excellent in power and judgment, and abundant in justice, He does not afflict.

24 “Therefore, let men fear him. He will not regard any who are wise in their own heart.”

Matthew 8:23-27

23 And when He had entered into the ship, His disciples followed Him.

24 And behold, there arose a storm in the sea, so that the ship was covered with waves. But He was asleep.

25 Then His disciples came and woke Him, saying, “Master, save us! We are perishing!”

26 And He said to them, “Why are you fearful? O you of little faith.” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea. And so, there was a great calm.

27 And the men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that both the winds and the sea obey Him?”
