Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Praise to the Lord for His Love and Faithfulness
A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.
92 It is (A)good to give thanks to the Lord,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To (B)declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night,
3 (C)On an instrument of ten strings,
On the lute,
And on the harp,
With harmonious sound.
4 For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
5 (D)O Lord, how great are Your works!
(E)Your thoughts are very deep.
6 (F)A senseless man does not know,
Nor does a fool understand this.
7 When (G)the wicked [a]spring up like grass,
And when all the workers of iniquity flourish,
It is that they may be destroyed forever.
8 (H)But You, Lord, are on high forevermore.
9 For behold, Your enemies, O Lord,
For behold, Your enemies shall perish;
All the workers of iniquity shall (I)be scattered.
10 But (J)my [b]horn You have exalted like a wild ox;
I have been (K)anointed with fresh oil.
11 (L)My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies;
My ears hear my desire on the wicked
Who rise up against me.
12 (M)The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be [c]fresh and [d]flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
(N)He is my rock, and (O)there is no unrighteousness in Him.
3 (A)‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them,
4 (B)then I will give you rain in its season, (C)the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
5 (D)Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing;
you shall eat your bread to the full, and (E)dwell in your land safely.
6 (F)I will give peace in the land, and (G)you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid;
I will rid the land of (H)evil[a] beasts,
and (I)the sword will not go through your land.
7 You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.
8 (J)Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight;
your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.
9 ‘For I will (K)look on you favorably and (L)make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My (M)covenant with you.
10 You shall eat the (N)old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.
11 (O)I will set My [b]tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you.
12 (P)I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.
13 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves;
I have broken the bands of your (Q)yoke and made you walk [c]upright.
14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments,
15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,
16 I also will do this to you:
I will even appoint terror over you, (R)wasting disease and fever which shall (S)consume the eyes and (T)cause sorrow of heart.
And (U)you shall sow your seed [d]in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 I will [e]set (V)My face against you, and (W)you shall be defeated by your enemies.
(X)Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall (Y)flee when no one pursues you.
18 ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you (Z)seven times more for your sins.
19 I will (AA)break the pride of your power;
I (AB)will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
20 And your (AC)strength shall be spent in vain;
for your (AD)land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.
Plea for Purity
4 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus (A)that you should abound more and more, (B)just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; 2 for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is (C)the will of God, (D)your sanctification: (E)that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 (F)that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 (G)not in passion of lust, (H)like the Gentiles (I)who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord (J)is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, (K)but in holiness. 8 (L)Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, (M)who[a] has also given us His Holy Spirit.
