Version
Psalm 33:12-22

12 Happy is the nation whose God is Yahweh—
the people He has chosen to be His own possession!(A)

13 The Lord looks down from heaven;
He observes everyone.(B)
14 He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth
from His dwelling place.(C)
15 He alone shapes their hearts;
He considers all their works.(D)
16 A king is not saved by a large army;
a warrior will not be delivered by great strength.(E)
17 The horse is a false hope for safety;
it provides no escape by its great power.(F)

18 Now the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him—
those who depend on His faithful love(G)
19 to deliver them from death
and to keep them alive in famine.(H)

20 We wait for Yahweh;(I)
He is our help and shield.(J)
21 For our hearts rejoice in Him(K)
because we trust in His holy name.(L)
22 May Your faithful love rest on us, Yahweh,
for we put our hope in You.(M)

Exodus 19:1-9

Israel at Sinai

19 In the third month, on the same day of the month that the Israelites had left the land of Egypt, they entered the Wilderness of Sinai. After they departed from Rephidim, they entered the Wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain.(A)

Moses went up the mountain to God, and the Lord called(B) to him from the mountain: “This is what you must say to the house of Jacob, and explain to the Israelites: ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Me.(C) Now if you will listen to Me and carefully keep My covenant,(D) you will be My own possession(E) out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine, and you will be My kingdom of priests and My holy nation.’(F) These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.”

After Moses came back, he summoned the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him. Then all the people responded together, “We will do all that the Lord has spoken.”(G) So Moses brought the people’s words back to the Lord.

The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud,(H) so that the people will hear when I speak(I) with you and will always believe you.” Then Moses reported the people’s words to the Lord.

Acts 2:1-11

Pentecost

When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in one place.(A) Suddenly a sound like that of a violent rushing wind(B) came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying.(C) And tongues, like flames of fire that were divided, appeared to them and rested on each one of them. Then they were all filled(D) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them ability for speech.(E)

There were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation(F) under heaven. When this sound occurred, a crowd came together and was confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. And they were astounded and amazed, saying,[a] “Look, aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?(G) How is it that each of us can hear in our own native language? Parthians, Medes, Elamites; those who live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,(H) 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,(I) 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking the magnificent acts of God in our own languages.”
