⁶ They therefore, being come together, asked him saying, Lord, is it at this time that thou restorest the kingdom to Israel?

⁷ And he said to them, It is not yours to know times or seasons, which the Father has placed in his own authority;

⁸ but ye will receive power, the Holy Spirit having come upon you, and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

⁹ And having said these things he was taken up, they beholding [him], and a cloud received him out of their sight.

¹⁰ And as they were gazing into heaven, as he was going, behold, also two men stood by them in white clothing,

¹¹ who also said, Men of Galilee, why do ye stand looking into heaven? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven, shall thus come in the manner in which ye have beheld him going into heaven.

¹² Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called [the mount] of Olives, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath-day's journey off.

¹³ And when they were come into [the city], they went up to the upper chamber, where were staying both Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James [son] of Alphaeus, and Simon the zealot, and Jude [the brother] of James.

¹⁴ These gave themselves all with one accord to continual prayer, with [several] women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

68 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered, and let them that hate him flee before him.

² As smoke is driven, thou wilt drive them away; as wax melteth before the fire, the wicked shall perish at the presence of God.

³ But the righteous shall rejoice: they shall exult before God and be glad with joy.

⁴ Sing unto God, sing forth his name; cast up a way for him that rideth in the deserts: his name is Jah; and rejoice before him.

⁵ A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

⁶ God maketh the solitary into families; those that were bound he bringeth out into prosperity: but the rebellious dwell in a parched [land].

⁷ O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness—(Selah)—

⁸ The earth trembled, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God, yon Sinai, at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

⁹ Thou, O God, didst pour a plentiful rain upon thine inheritance, and when it was weary thou strengthenedst it.

¹⁰ Thy flock hath dwelt therein: thou hast prepared in thy goodness, for the afflicted, O God!

³² Ye kingdoms of the earth, sing unto God; sing psalms of the Lord, (Selah,)

³³ Of him that rideth upon the heavens, the heavens which are of old: lo, he uttereth his voice, a mighty voice.

³⁴ Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.

³⁵ Terrible art thou, O God, out of thy sanctuaries,—the God of Israel! He it is that giveth strength and might unto the people. Blessed be God!

¹² Beloved, take not [as] strange the fire [of persecution] which has taken place amongst you for [your] trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you;

¹³ but as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation.

¹⁴ If ye are reproached in [the] name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; for the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: [on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.]

⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in [the due] time;

⁷ having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you.

⁸ Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.

⁹ Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which [is] in [the] world.

¹⁰ But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground:

¹¹ to him [be] the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen.

17 These things Jesus spoke, and lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son may glorify thee;

² as thou hast given him authority over all flesh, that [as to] all that thou hast given to him, he should give them life eternal.

³ And this is the eternal life, that they should know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

⁴ I have glorified *thee* on the earth, I have completed the work which thou gavest me that I should do it;

⁵ and now glorify *me*, *thou* Father, along with thyself, with the glory which I had along with thee before the world was.

⁶ I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gavest them me, and they have kept thy word.

⁷ Now they have known that all things that thou hast given me are of thee;

⁸ for the words which thou hast given me I have given them, and they have received [them], and have known truly that I came out from thee, and have believed that thou sentest me.

⁹ I demand concerning them; I do not demand concerning the world, but concerning those whom thou hast given me, for they are thine,

¹⁰ (and all that is mine is thine, and [all] that is thine mine,) and I am glorified in them.

¹¹ And I am no longer in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one as we.
