Acts 2:14

Peter’s Sermon at Pentecost

14 But Peter, [a]taking his stand with (A)the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words.

Acts 2:36-41

36 Therefore let all the (A)house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both (B)Lord and [a]Christ—this Jesus (C)whom you crucified.”

About Three Thousand Souls Saved

37 Now when they heard this, they were [b]pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men, brothers, (D)what should we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “(E)Repent, and each of you be (F)baptized in the name of Jesus Christ [c]for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For (G)the promise is for you and your children and for all who are (H)far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40 And with many other words he solemnly (I)bore witness and kept on exhorting them, saying, “[d]Be saved from this (J)crooked generation!” 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand (K)souls.

Psalm 116:1-4

I Love Yahweh

116 (A)I love Yahweh, because He (B)hears
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has (C)inclined His ear to me,
So I shall call upon Him in all my days.
The (D)cords of death encompassed me
And the [a]distresses of Sheol found me;
I found distress and sorrow.
Then (E)I called upon the name of Yahweh:
“O Yahweh, I beseech You, [b](F)provide my soul escape!”

Psalm 116:12-19

12 What shall I (A)give to Yahweh in return
For all His (B)bountiful dealings [a]with me?
13 I shall lift up the (C)cup of [b]salvation
And (D)call upon the name of Yahweh.
14 I shall (E)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be (F)in the presence of all His people.
15 (G)Precious in the sight of Yahweh
Is the death of His holy ones.
16 O Yahweh, [c]surely I am (H)Your slave,
I am Your slave, the (I)son of Your maidservant,
You have (J)loosed my bonds.
17 To You I shall offer (K)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And (L)call upon the name of Yahweh.
18 I shall (M)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (N)courts of the house of Yahweh,
In the midst of you, O (O)Jerusalem.
[d]Praise Yah!

1 Peter 1:17-23

17 And if you (A)address as Father the One who (B)impartially (C)judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves [a](D)in fear during the time of your (E)sojourn, 18 knowing that you were not [b](F)redeemed with corruptible things like silver or gold from your (G)futile conduct inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious (H)blood, as of a (I)lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20 He was (J)foreknown before (K)the foundation of the world, but (L)appeared [c]in these last times (M)for the sake of you 21 who through Him are (N)believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and (O)gave Him glory, so that your faith and (P)hope are in God.

22 Since you have (Q)in obedience to the truth (R)purified your souls for a love of the brothers (S)without hypocrisy, fervently love one another from [d]the heart, 23 for you have been (T)born again (U)not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, that is, through the living and enduring (V)word of God.

Luke 24:13-35

The Road to Emmaus

13 And behold, (A)two of them were going that same day to a village named Emmaus, which was [a]sixty stadia from Jerusalem. 14 And they were conversing with each other about all these things which had happened. 15 And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus Himself approached and was going with them. 16 But (B)their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. 17 And He said to them, “What are these words that you are discussing with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18 And one of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You [b]the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?” 19 And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about (C)Jesus the Nazarene, who was a mighty (D)prophet in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20 and how the chief priests and our (E)rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him. 21 But we were hoping that it was He who was going to (F)redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened. 22 But also some women among us astounded us. (G)When they were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and not finding His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive. 24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also said, but Him they did not see.” 25 And He said to them, “O foolish ones and slow of heart to believe in all that (H)the prophets have spoken! 26 (I)Was it not necessary for the [c]Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?” 27 Then beginning [d]with (J)Moses and [e]with all the (K)prophets, He interpreted to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.

28 And they approached the village where they were going, and (L)He acted as though He were going farther. 29 But they urged Him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening, and the day [f]is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them. 30 And it happened that when He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and (M)blessed it, and after breaking it, He was giving it to them. 31 Then their (N)eyes were opened and they recognized Him. And He vanished from [g]their sight. 32 And they said to one another, “[h]Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He (O)was opening the Scriptures to us?” 33 And they stood up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and (P)found gathered together the eleven and (Q)those with them, 34 who were saying, “(R)The Lord has really risen and (S)has appeared to Simon.” 35 And they were relating [i]their experiences on the road and how (T)He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.
