Psalm 57

To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' Of David. Michtam; when he fled from Saul in the cave.

57 Be gracious unto me, O God, be gracious unto me; for my soul taketh refuge in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings do I take refuge, until the calamities be overpast.

I will call unto God, the Most High; unto God that performeth [all] for me.

He will send from the heavens and save me; he hath covered with reproach him that would swallow me up. Selah. God hath sent forth his loving-kindness and his truth.

My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down [among] them that breathe out flames, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let thy glory be above all the earth!

They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down: they have digged a pit before me; they are fallen into the midst thereof. Selah.

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms.

Awake, my glory; awake, lute and harp: I will wake the dawn.

I will give thee thanks among the peoples, O Lord; of thee will I sing psalms among the nations:

10 For thy loving-kindness is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

11 Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let thy glory be above all the earth!

1 Samuel 25:36-42

36 And Abigail came to Nabal; and behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was drunken to excess; so she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

37 And it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, that his wife told him these things; and his heart died within him, and he became [as] a stone.

38 And it came to pass in about ten days that Jehovah smote Nabal, and he died.

39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be Jehovah, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from evil; but Jehovah has returned Nabal's evil upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her as his wife.

40 And the servants of David came to Abigail to Carmel, and spoke to her, saying, David has sent us to thee, to take thee as his wife.

41 And she arose and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thy handmaid be a bondwoman to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

42 And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that followed her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.

Luke 22:39-46

39 And going forth he went according to his custom to the mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed him.

40 And when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and having knelt down he prayed,

42 saying, Father, if thou wilt remove this cup from me:—but then, not my will, but thine be done.

43 And an angel appeared to him from heaven strengthening him.

44 And being in conflict he prayed more intently. And his sweat became as great drops of blood, falling down upon the earth.

45 And rising up from his prayer, coming to the disciples, he found them sleeping from grief.

46 And he said to them, Why sleep ye? rise up and pray that ye enter not into temptation.
