I Will Praise Yahweh Throughout My Life
146 [a]Praise Yah!
(A)Praise Yahweh, O my soul!
2 I will praise Yahweh (B)throughout my life;
I will (C)sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 (D)Do not trust in nobles,
In merely a son of (E)man, in whom there is (F)no salvation.
4 His (G)spirit departs, he (H)returns to [b]the earth;
In that very day his (I)plans perish.
5 How (J)blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
Whose (K)hope is in Yahweh his God,
6 Who (L)made heaven and earth,
The (M)sea and all that is in them;
Who (N)keeps truth forever;
7 Who (O)does justice for the oppressed;
Who (P)gives food to the hungry.
Yahweh (Q)sets the prisoners free.
8 Yahweh (R)opens the eyes of the blind;
Yahweh (S)raises up those who are bowed down;
Yahweh (T)loves the righteous;
9 Yahweh (U)keeps the sojourners;
He [c](V)helps up the orphan and the widow,
But He bends (W)the way of the wicked.
10 Yahweh will (X)reign forever,
Your God, O Zion, [d]from generation to generation.
[e]Praise Yah!
11 The rich man is (A)wise in his own eyes,
But the lowly who understands [a]searches him.
12 When the (B)righteous exult, there is great honor,
But (C)when the wicked rise, man has to be sought out.
13 He who (D)conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who (E)confesses and forsakes them will receive compassion.
14 How blessed is the man who (F)is always in dread,
But he who (G)hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
15 Like a (H)roaring lion and a rushing bear
Is a (I)wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 A (J)leader who lacks discernment abounds in oppressions,
But he who hates greedy gain will prolong his days.
17 A man (K)oppressed with (L)the bloodguilt of life
Will flee until [b]death; let no one uphold him.
18 He who walks blamelessly will be saved,
But he who is (M)crooked—[c]double dealing—will fall all at once.
19 (N)He who cultivates his ground will be (O)satisfied with food,
But he who pursues empty things will be satisfied with poverty.
20 A (P)faithful man will abound with blessings,
But he who (Q)makes haste to be rich will not go unpunished.
21 To [d](R)show partiality is not good,
(S)Even for a piece of bread a man will transgress.
22 A man with an (T)evil eye (U)hurries after wealth
And does not know that want will come upon him.
23 He who (V)reproves a man will afterward find more favor
Than he who (W)flatters with the tongue.
24 He who (X)robs his father or his mother
And says, “It is not a transgression,”
Is the (Y)companion of a man who destroys.
25 An [e]arrogant man (Z)stirs up strife,
But he who (AA)trusts in Yahweh (AB)will [f]be enriched.
26 He who (AC)trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will escape.
27 He who (AD)gives to the poor will never want,
But he who [g]shuts his eyes will have many curses.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves;
But when they perish, the righteous increase.
43 And they were all astonished at the (A)majesty of God.
Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
(B)But while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing, He said to His disciples, 44 “Put these words into your ears; (C)for the Son of Man is going to be [a]delivered into the hands of men.” 45 But (D)they [b]did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.
Who Is the Greatest?
46 (E)Now an argument [c]started among them as to which of them might be the greatest. 47 But Jesus, (F)knowing [d]what they were thinking in their heart, took a child and stood him by His side, 48 and said to them, “(G)Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; (H)for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.”
