⁴³ And they were all astonished at the ^(A)majesty of God.

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection

^(B)But while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing, He said to His disciples, ⁴⁴ “Put these words into your ears; ^(C)for the Son of Man is going to be ^[a]delivered into the hands of men.” ⁴⁵ But ^(D)they ^[b]did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.

^22 (A)And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be ^[a]delivered into the hands of men; ²³ and ^(B)they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.

The Temple Tax

²⁴ Now when they came to Capernaum, those who collected ^(C)the ^[b]two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay ^(D)the ^[c]two-drachma tax?” ²⁵ He *said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect ^(E)tolls or ^(F)taxes, from their sons or from strangers?” ²⁶ And when Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are ^[d]exempt. ²⁷ However, so that we do not ^[e](G)offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a ^[f]stater. Take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

^30 (A)From there they went out and were going through Galilee, and He was not wanting anyone to know about it. ³¹ For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, “^(B)The Son of Man is to be ^[a]delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise again three days later.” ³² But ^(C)they ^[b]did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.
