Psalm 25[a]

Confident Prayer for Forgiveness and Guidance

Of David.

I

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul,
    (A)my God, in you I trust;
    do not let me be disgraced;(B)
    do not let my enemies gloat over me.
No one is disgraced who waits for you,(C)
    but only those who are treacherous without cause.
Make known to me your ways, Lord;
    teach me your paths.(D)
Guide me by your fidelity and teach me,
    for you are God my savior,
    for you I wait all the day long.
Remember your compassion and your mercy, O Lord,
    for they are ages old.(E)
Remember no more the sins of my youth;(F)
    remember me according to your mercy,
    because of your goodness, Lord.

II

Good and upright is the Lord,
    therefore he shows sinners the way,
He guides the humble in righteousness,
    and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth
    toward those who honor his covenant and decrees.

Leviticus 19:1-4

Chapter 19

Various Rules of Conduct. The Lord said to Moses: Speak to the whole Israelite community and tell them: Be holy, for I, the Lord your God, am holy.[a](A) [b]Each of you revere your mother and father,(B) and keep my sabbaths.(C) I, the Lord, am your God.

Do not turn aside to idols, nor make molten gods for yourselves.(D) I, the Lord, am your God.

Leviticus 19:32-37

32 Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the old, and fear your God. I am the Lord.

33 When an alien resides with you in your land, do not mistreat such a one.(A) 34 You shall treat the alien who resides with you no differently than the natives born among you; you shall love the alien as yourself; for you too were once aliens in the land of Egypt.(B) I, the Lord, am your God.

35 Do not act dishonestly in using measures of length or weight or capacity. 36 You shall have a true scale and true weights, an honest ephah and an honest hin.[a](C) I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. 37 Be careful, then, to observe all my statutes and decrees. I am the Lord.

John 3:16-21

16 For God so loved the world that he gave[a] his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.(A) 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn[b] the world, but that the world might be saved through him.(B) 18 Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.(C) 19 [c]And this is the verdict,(D) that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed.(E) 21 But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.(F)
