² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid: for ^[a]Jehovah, even Jehovah, is my strength and song; and he is become my salvation. ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. ⁴ And in that day shall ye say, Give thanks unto Jehovah, ^[b]call upon his name, declare his doings among the peoples, make mention that his name is exalted. ⁵ Sing unto Jehovah; for he hath done ^[c]excellent things: ^[d]let this be known in all the earth. ⁶ Cry aloud and shout, thou ^[e]inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.

6 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come! ² Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border? ³ —ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the ^[a]seat of violence to come near; ⁴ that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; ⁵ that sing idle songs to the sound of the viol; that invent for themselves instruments of music, ^[b]like David; ⁶ that drink ^[c]wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

⁷ Therefore shall they now go captive with the first that go captive; and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away. ⁸ The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: I abhor the ^[d]excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces; therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

8 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God which hath been given in the churches of Macedonia; ² how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their ^[a]liberality. ³ For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord, ⁴ beseeching us with much entreaty in regard of this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the saints: ⁵ and this, not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God. ⁶ Insomuch that we exhorted Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace also. ⁷ But as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in ^[b]your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. ⁸ I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love. ⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich. ¹⁰ And herein I give my judgment: for this is expedient for you, who were the first to make a beginning a year ago, not only to do, but also to will. ¹¹ But now complete the doing also; that as there was the readiness to will, so there may be the completion also out of your ability. ¹² For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according as a man hath, not according as he hath not. ¹³ For I say not this that others may be eased and ye distressed; ¹⁴ but by equality: your abundance being a supply at this present time for their want, that their abundance also may become a supply for your want; that there may be equality: ¹⁵ as it is written, ^[c]He that gathered much had nothing over; and he that gathered little had no lack.
