6 Seek the Lord, and ye shall live, lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
7 They turn [a]judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth.
10 They have hated him [a]that rebuked in the gate: and they abhorred him that speaketh uprightly.
11 Forasmuch then as your treading is upon the poor, and [b]ye take from him burdens of wheat, ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them: ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions, and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take rewards, and they oppress the poor in the gate.
13 Therefore [c]the prudent shall keep silence in that time, for it is an evil time.
14 Seek good and not evil, that ye may live: and the Lord God of hosts shall be with you, as you have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be merciful unto the remnant of Joseph.
12 Teach us so to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto [a]wisdom.
13 Return (O Lord, [b]how long?) and be [c]pacified toward thy servants.
14 Fill us with thy mercy in the morning: so shall we rejoice and be glad all our days?
15 Comfort us according to the days that thou hast afflicted us, and according to the years that we have seen evil.
16 [d]Let thy work be seen toward thy servants, and thy glory upon their [e]children.
17 And let the [f]beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and [g]direct thou the work of our hands upon us, even direct the work of our hands.
12 [a]For the [b]word of God is [c]lively, and mighty in operation, and sharper than any two edged sword, and entereth through, even unto the dividing asunder of the [d]soul and the [e]spirit, and of the joints, and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts, and the intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature, which is not manifest in [f]his sight: but all things are naked and open unto his eyes, with whom we have to do.
14 [g]Seeing then that we have a great high Priest, which is entered into heaven, even Jesus the Son of God, let us [h]hold fast our profession.
15 [i]For we have not an high Priest, which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all things tempted in like sort, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore go boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
17 ¶ [a]And when he was gone out on the way, there came one (A)running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do, that I may possess eternal life?
18 Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, even God.
19 Thou knowest the commandments, (B)Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Thou shalt [b]hurt no man. Honor thy father and mother.
20 Then he answered, and said to him, Master, all these things have I observed from my youth.
21 And Jesus looked upon him, and loved him, and said unto him, One thing is lacking unto thee. Go and sell all that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come, follow me, and take up the cross.
22 But he was sad at that saying, and went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus looked round about, and said unto his disciples, How hardly do they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God!
24 And his disciples were afraid at his words. But Jesus answered again, and said unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God!
25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And they were much more astonied, saying with themselves, Who then can be saved?
27 But Jesus looked upon them, and said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
28 ¶ (C)[c]Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have forsaken all, and have followed thee.
29 Jesus answered, and said, Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath forsaken house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my sake and the Gospels,
30 But he shall receive an [d]hundredfold, now at this present, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands [e]with persecutions, and in the world to come, eternal life.
31 (D)But many that are first, shall be last, and the last, first.
