Psalm 123

To You I Lift Up My Eyes

A Song of Ascents.

123 To You I (A)lift up my eyes,
The One (B)enthroned in the heavens!
Behold, as the eyes of (C)slaves look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a servant-girl to the hand of her mistress,
So our (D)eyes look to Yahweh our God,
Until He is gracious to us.

(E)Be gracious to us, O Yahweh, be gracious to us,
For we are greatly saturated (F)with contempt.
Our soul is greatly saturated
With the (G)mockery of (H)those who are at ease,
And with the (I)contempt of the proud.

Jeremiah 7:16-26

16 “As for you, (A)do not pray for this people and do not lift up a cry of lamentation or prayer for them and do not intercede with Me, for I am not hearing you. 17 Are you not seeing what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The [a]children gather wood, and the fathers make the fire burn, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they (B)pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to (C)provoke Me. 19 (D)Do they provoke Me?” declares Yahweh. “Is it not themselves they provoke to the (E)shame of their own face?” 20 Therefore thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, My (F)anger and My wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and on beast and on the (G)trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground; and it will burn and not be quenched.”

21 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “Add your (H)burnt offerings to your sacrifices and (I)eat flesh. 22 For I did not (J)speak to your fathers or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. 23 But this is [b]what I commanded them, saying, ‘(K)Listen to My voice, and (L)I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in the entire way which I command you, that it may (M)be well with you.’ 24 Yet they (N)did not listen or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart and [c](O)went backward and not forward. 25 Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have (P)sent you all My slaves the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them. 26 Yet they did not listen to Me or incline their ear, but (Q)stiffened their neck; they (R)did more evil than their fathers.

2 Corinthians 10:7-11

[a](A)You are looking at [b]things as they are outwardly. (B)If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ’s, (C)so also are we. For even if (D)I boast somewhat [c]further about our (E)authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for tearing you down, I will not be put to shame, [d]for I do not wish to seem as if I would terrify you by my letters. 10 For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his [e]personal presence is (F)weak and (G)his [f]words contemptible.” 11 Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when absent, such persons we are also in deed when present.
