Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
6 Thy [a]throne, O God, is forever and ever: the scepter of thy kingdom, is a scepter of righteousness.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness, because God, even thy God, hath [b]anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
8 All thy garments smell of myrrh and aloes, and cassia, when thou comest out of the ivory palaces [c]where they have made thee glad.
9 King’s daughters were among thine honorable wives: upon thy right hand did stand the [d]Queen in a vesture of gold of Ophir.
10 [e]Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear: forget also thine own people and thy father’s house.
11 So shall the King have pleasure in thy beauty: for he is thy Lord, and reverence thou him.
12 And the [f]daughter of [g]Tyre with the rich of the people, shall do homage before thy face with presents.
13 The King’s daughter is all glorious [h]within: her clothing is of broidered gold.
14 She shall be brought unto the King in raiment of needlework: the virgins that follow after her, and her companions shall be brought unto thee.
15 With joy and gladness shall they be brought, and shall enter into the king’s palace.
16 Instead of thy fathers shall thy [i]children be: thou shalt make them princes [j]through all the earth.
17 I will make thy [k]Name to be remembered through all generations: therefore shall the people give thanks unto thee, world without end.
62 1 The great desire that the Prophets have had for Christ’s coming. 6 The diligence of the Pastors to preach.
1 For Zion’s sake I will not [a]hold my tongue, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof break forth as the [b]light, and salvation thereof as a burning lamp.
2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all Kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by [c]a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.
3 Thou shalt also be a [d]crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
4 It shall no more be said unto thee, [e]Forsaken, neither shall it be said anymore to thy land, Desolate, but thou shalt be called [f]Hephzibah, and thy land [g]Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shalt have an [h]husband.
5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons [i]marry thee: and as a bridegroom is glad of the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
22 ¶ After these things came Jesus, and his disciples into the land of Judea, and there tarried with them, and (A)baptized.
23 And John also baptized in Aenon besides Salim, because there was much water there: and they came and were baptized.
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
25 [a]Then there arose a question between John’s disciples and the Jews, about purifying.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom (B)thou barest witness, behold, he baptizeth, and all men come to him.
27 John answered, and said, A man [b]can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
28 Ye yourselves are my witnesses, that (C)I said, I am not that Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29 He that hath the bride, is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly, because of the bridegroom’s voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 He that is come from on high, is above all: he that is of the earth, is of the [c]earth, and [d]speaketh of the earth: he that is come from heaven, is above all.
32 And what he hath [e]seen and heard, that he testifieth: but [f]no man receiveth his testimony.
33 He that hath receiveth his testimony, hath sealed that (D)God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth him not the Spirit by measure.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath (E)[g]given all things into his hand.
36 (F)He that believeth in the Son, hath everlasting life, and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not [h]see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
